A: Hello - Thank you for asking. This uses a washable filter, which can be reused. You can clean the filter by holding the filter housing from both sides, pulling back & up to remove. Hold the housing over a trash can, then pull the filter out using the metal ring. Tap the filter lightly to remove debris, then rinse it in water. Allow to air dry fully. While this vacuum looks nice and doesn't take up much space, it's pretty useless. The suction is awful and wouldn't even pick up small crumbs and dust. I do not recommend at all.

The suction on this item is terrible, even on the high speed. I expected a lot better for the price. Does not pick up anything from carpet or once an attachment is added. Plus it is not easy to press the release button and open the cup at the same time to empty. Difficult design, sorry but I would not recomend.

Don't Buy It
I researched for MONTHS before buying this. I thought I was buying a good brand, a quality product. Less than 8 months of occasional (1-2x/week) use, the motor burned out because the filter system causes dirt/debris vacuumed up to backlog into the motor area. You can actually hear stuff moving around in the motor. I have removed all the screws and tried to disassemble it to clean it out, but it cannot be disassembled. It's glued together, so the screws are essentially useless, or just for show. Such a waste of money.

This vacuum worked great for about a week. After that, it stopped charging and would only turn on for about 1-2 minutes, and only about 30 seconds if I used the higher suction. I wouldn’t say it’s worth the money.

Cons: 1. The sound is crazy high pitched. 2. The couch attachment started scratching the leather after a month of use. 3. The catch bin is tiny and filled up quickly (we do have dogs.) I'll be sending this to college with my son instead of using it at home. Pros: It has good suction power and I love the color and compact design.

The low setting barely picks anything up. The high setting isn't that much better at picking items up even with the attachments. I had to return it. Sharper Image used to make quality products.

No Replacement Filters made. Customer service suggests you wash your paper filter.
Paper filter is NOT REPLACEABLE and thethreesixtygroup.com who now owns them suggest WASHING a paper filter. I paid $80 for this and no replacement filters are available. Will not be purchasing any other Sharper Image products.

Not worth the minimal suction power. Dies after a very short amount of time, the suction power is actually horrible, even like small strands of hair on the floor wouldn’t get picked up with this??? It literally has one job and it’s not worth it even at the clearance cost I got it at
