  • A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Hiro Roku TV 40" 1080p Full HD Smart TV Flat Screen LED Television with Roku TV and Dolby Audio for Streaming For intermittent freezing here are some steps to try: Hard Power Cycle: Unplug the TV directly from the power outlet, wait at least 60 seconds, and plug it back in. Clear Cache/Restart Sequence: If the remote works, press Home 5 times, Up 1 time, Rewind 2 times, and Fast Forward 2 times to clear the cache and restart. Factory Reset: Locate the physical reset button on the back of the TV, use a paperclip to hold it for 15 seconds, or look for this option in the Settings menu. Network Reset: Unplug your internet router for 10 seconds, then plug it back in to resolve connectivity issues causing loading screens. Remove USB/HDMI Devices: Unplug external USB drives or HDMI devices as they can prevent the TV from booting properly. If these steps fail to resolve your issue, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: I'm assuming that this TV will need internet to work. Am I assuming right?

submitted by Msdoreenann - 3 months ago
  • A: Hello Msdoreenann, You are mostly right, but it depends on what you want to do with it. Since this is a Roku TV, the experience is "internet-first," but the hardware can still function as a traditional television without an internet connection. You generally need internet (Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot) to "activate" the Roku software when you first turn it on. Without this, you may be stuck on the setup screen.

    Too many problems

So disappointed. I was so excited to purchase this Roku Tv. It buffers often, if I pause the tv for longer than a few minutes it will just skip to a new episode when I press play. It often tells me that whatever app I'm using at the time has an error and can't be used at the moment, I have to shut off the tv and restart it for it to work again only for it to do the same thing again after a couple of episodes. I'd like to return it or exchange it for a new one since it's in the 30 day period since purchasing but I disposed of the box so I don't think I can. Very unfortunate, won't be purchasing again.

    Advice for the tv stand

I was struggling with the wobbly leg stands but I saw someone else say to put the screws in all the way before attaching the legs because they did not thread the hole all the way down (thus the wobbly tv stand). After I did that, then attached the screws through the stand like normal, it was pretty sturdy. Just a quality control error on their end!

    Not a 40” tv it’s a 35” tv
1 reply from Roku Support team - 2 months ago
Hi Faron, thanks for reaching out! A quick tip about TV sizing: the standard measurement is the diagonal across the screen panel only (top-left to bottom-right), excluding the plastic frame (bezel). For example, although screen size is measured diagonally, a 40-inch TV typically has a width of about 34.9 to 35.5 inches. If you need clarification or further assistance with your new TV, contact us anytime at https://support.roku.com/contactus. We hope this information is helpful. Happy Streaming! Horrible.

Worst tv. Screws disintegrated when you put them in and the little leg stands are so wobbly that the tv leans.
1 reply from Roku Support team - 2 months ago
Hi Brianna, thanks for your review! Your TV shouldn’t wobble once the stand is fully secured, so we want to help you fix this. The stands use self-tapping screws, which can feel tight before they’re fully threaded. They often need a bit more straight, downward pressure to seat correctly. If the screws stop early or go in at an angle, the stand can feel loose, causing the TV can lean or wobble. Here’s the full step-by-step guide to double check the setup (copy/paste into your browser): support.roku.com/article/36588022035607. To fix this, place the TV face-down on a soft surface, align each stand with the mounting holes, and tighten each screw until snug (without overtightening). Once fully seated, the stand should feel stable. If it still wobbles after these steps, we’d be happy to take a closer look and help. Please reach out to our team at support.roku.com/contactus to connect with an agent. We hope to get you up and streaming soon! Jessica, Roku Customer Advocate

    Lags and Buffers

(See TL;DR at end.) The TV lags horribly in apps. I bought this TV specifically because it was a Roku TV as I have a house full of Roku TVs and TVs with Roku streaming devices. I've had good experiences with Roku and wanted a Roku TV for my office. A 40" TV was exactly what I needed to fill up the given space in my office, which led me to want a 40" Roku TV. When I saw this 40" Hiro branded Roku TV for $120, I figured it was a good price and I quickly snatched it up. After setting it up and entering my Roku account information, the apps on my previous Roku devices automatically populated the Hiro TV. I was able to open my SlingTV app, and after entering my account information, connect with my SlingTV account. However, after keeping the TV tuned into the same program on SlingTV for about half an hour to an hour, when I tried to use the remote to change to a different channel, the TV needed several seconds to process the request from the remote. This seems like some sort of RAM issue, namely, the TV does not have a large enough RAM storage unit. As such, when the TV has been in use for about an hour, it begins to lag. Worse, the RAM issue seems to also affect the data stream. Although I've got the TV connected to a 1Gbps wifi connection, after about an hour or two, it's not uncommon for the video stream to hang up and need to buffer. The only good thing is that I really only use the TV to provide background noise while I work. Unfortunately, if I actually want to watch anything, the TV struggles with the most basic operations. In short, this is not a TV I would buy again. Instead, I'd spend the extra $10 and get a Roku TV made by Roku instead of Hiro. TL;DR: not good for actually watching TV. Final Score 4/10; Would not recommend.

I ordered a TV for my eight-year-old on Black Friday. She opened it on Christmas and then we put it up right away until I could get her a wall mount. Today I was able to get a wall mount and have someone professionally hang it when we opened the box the TV was broken dented, and the screen was different colors. Although I am outside of the return window, there was no resolution! I should’ve checked to make sure the TV wasn’t working order when we received it but since it was coming from target I thought that it would’ve been just fine. Instead, I had to watch my eight-year-old cry for two hours.

    Wrong screws

Gave me the wrong screws for my mount
1 reply from Roku Support team - 3 months ago
Hi Tyler, thank you for sharing this with us. Please be advised that the screws used for this stand are self-tapping screws. They often require firm, straight, downward pressure to seat properly. If the screws stop early or go in at an angle, the stand may feel loose, which can cause the TV to lean or wobble. Here’s a full step-by-step guide you can review (copy/paste into your browser): support.roku.com/article/36588022035607. To fix this, place the TV face-down on a soft surface, align each stand with the mounting holes, and tighten each screw until it’s snug—being careful not to overtighten. Once fully seated, the stand should feel stable. If the TV still wobbles after these steps, we’d be happy to take a closer look. Please reach out to our team at support.roku.com/contactus to connect with an agent. We hope to get you up and streaming soon! Elmer, Roku Customer Advocate
