A: Yes, it works better on hard flooring (wood, tile, etc), although it does work on short pile carpet/rugs. This is due to the bristle roller. My mom also has a Dyson stick vacuum, but hers came with 2 different bristle rollers, specifically each for hard floor or carpet/rugs. Sorry, I can't recall the model.

Great vacuum
It's light, easy to use, great suction and has a long battery life. I can use it on floors, stairs, carpet and furniture (we have pets so there is always pet hair). It's also relatively affordable.

So effective!
I bought this vacuum a few weeks ago and absolutely love it! It’s so lightweight, effective, and easy to use and so much easier than dragging out my large, heavy vacuum. It gets in all of the right spaces. I’ve thrown away my broom because I don’t need it anymore.

Disappointed
No suction unless on the highest power and then the charge only last 4 minutes. What a waste of $ and a disappointment. I have had a Dyson before but this one does not live up to the name.

Does it all
This vacuum is perfect for me, light, easy to use and very efficient. Really picks up dog hair, too. You can store it anywhere. It is great! Now the canister and robot are retired just like me.

Not enough power
I bought this almost a month agobecause it was on sale, I loved my animal cleaner but I’ve had to replace the battery a few times then eventually it wouldn’t hold the charge. This new vacuum doesn’t have the power that my old vacuum had unless you turn it onn high then the battery runs down fast. I.don’t love this like my old one!!!

This is my 4th Dyson vacuum. The Dyson V9 Motorbar was delivered on December 2nd. I've used 2 weeks and it is no longer working. This vacuum will not turn on or do anything. Returning.

Love it but…
Years ago I had the Dyson animal ball in my home where we had two dogs and four cats. After moving to an apartment with my one no -shedding dog I sold it and purchased another brand of stick vacuum. I hated it. When I saw this V9 on sale for less than half price I ordered it at once and received it two days later. What I love - it’s solidly built, holds its charge, and works beautiful both on laminate floors and area rugs. What I don’t like is having to keep my finger on the trigger at all times which is painful on my arthritic right hand. Must use my left. Also wish there were a headlight. And finally, when I empty the dust bin I have to reach in to pull the was of material out - something I hated about my cheaper stick vacuum. I expect this is the best on the market and am much more satisfied with it overall than previous one. But honestly - couldn’t you have provided a light and an on button that stays on?

Still a good Dyson, but some disappointment
I am disappointed that this model does not have the same diameter of attachments, so I cannot swap attachments with my 4 other Dyson's. Also, the vacuum seems weaker than I anticipated.

Very powerful vacuum
I didn't realize how much sand, pet hair and crumbs I had on my floors. So far the vacuum is doing a great job picking it all up.

Have to hold trigger
I was so excited to end my first Dison, and wanted to love it, but don’t. On the V9 model you have to hold the trigger down the whole time you use it which gets uncomfortable. And the collection container is so small, it needs emptied frequently. The suction is powerful and it works great on carpet or hardwood.
