Q: Does this come with the side tank? https://target.scene7.com/is/image/Target/GUEST_c71e5247-b032-4137-b0f6-fcf3f20b101c?wid=800&hei=800&qlt=80&fmt=pjpeg
A: No, it does not! I would have liked that option. This is an appliance that needs a water line as it comes in the box! At a retail of $499.99- I’d have paid $50-$75 more to get it with the “matching” tank. The stainless version on the GE website, comes with the tank at $579.00, granted I got this one on sale in the target store for $399.99, but it’s still nice. Target does not sell the tank online as of yet and GE doesn’t sell it in white on their website, since it’s a “target exclusive.” I’m assuming Target will sell it soon, but as this is a limited collaboration with Magnolia, it will probably be very limited stock, if they get it. I ordered this- the magnetic tank with the same model number but in stainless. It’s not ideal, but temporary until I get a water splicer for my fridge line. That will cost me another $75.00 in parts and $150.00 in labor too, but that’s a handyman job. submitted byMomster - 1 year agoA: I hope so. 2 of the photos show it and the specs say it does too.
submitted byMCO fun - 1 year agoA: Not sure why it isnt at Target yet, but this is the side tank: https://www.geappliances.com/appliance/GE-Profile-Opal-Hearth-and-Hand-Side-Tank-OPAL01GHSDTK
submitted byRGP - 1 year agoA: You can purchase the side tank separate!
submitted byHeadman19 - 1 year agoA: Side tank is sold on eb - new open box - bullseyedeals for $39 w/free shipping
submitted byGrammy - 6 months agoA: No it does not come with it.
submitted byTucson Mama - 1 year agoA: Why is the side bin not included for this price ridiculous it should all be coming together unless you can hook it directly up to a waterline?
submitted byRed - 15 days agoA: It is sold separately
submitted byLucas - 3 months agoA: No it does not come with side tank which doesn’t make sense. Just include it and charge more instead of making someone have to search and then purchase. Tank is extra $69.99. This was a gift from my daughter and family. They were embarrassed that tank was not included.
submitted byMeme0f9 - 1 year agoA: The matching side tank is now available to purchase on the GE website.
submitted byCyn - 1 year agoA: No this one doesn’t come with the side tank
submitted byAmanda - 1 year agoA: It does not come with the side tank. I called GE and confirmed from the “Opal” department the side tank isn’t available yet…and once it is available, it will only be sold at Target.

Q: Is this self cleaning?
A: You clean it by flipping a switch on the back and holding down the front button for 3 seconds, then the machine does the rest.
submitted byHeadman19 - 1 year agoA: Yes, with a switch to initiate it
submitted byCasperlpn - 9 months agoA: No but it’s a super easy cleaning process !! You flip a switch on the back, run the cleaning solution through it and then flush it out !
submitted byHeadman19 - 1 year agoA: No. I have one you have to take to a sink drain the lines and run vinegar thru it to clean. I do it once a week or the ice starts to taste bad even though I use filtered water
submitted bydmc327 - 1 year agoA: Can you add video on the cleaning process?
submitted byTerrace J - 1 year agoA: Yes I fits under the upper cabinets

submitted byAuntie A - 1 year agoA: The description is incorrect on the height. It is NOT 10.5 inches tall, it is 17.6 inches tall.

Q: I have had 2 of these and love them but with both my blue light comes on like it needs water and it doesn’t . I have done everything that it’s told me to do and it will not make ice with the light on and the water is full .
A: Please contact Opal Support at 1-866-907-6718, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, EST.
submitted byGE Answers - 2 months agoBrand expertA: Same. I'm attempting to return mine because of this. I've had it for 7 months but it's been a constant battle from week 2 and barely use mine because of it.
submitted byTessa - 2 months agoA: The intake line into the pump goes upward from the reservoir, where the pump should be slightly lower. I believe this causes the pump to suck air and the machine thinks it needs water when it doesn’t. Not sure how the design engineer missed that detail. I found two fixes both YouTube: First one, prime the pump with the following steps. 1. Open ice tray 2. Close ice tray (signals pump to start pumping) 3. Remove cover over intake hole 4. Using your thumb, cover the intake hole for 1-2 seconds 5. Let go 1-2 seconds 6. Repeat 8-10 times, you should notice a lot more water flowing into the reservoir Second one, remove air bubbles from pump…. I do this one when the first one doesn’t work. 1. Remove all the screws on the back cover. 2. Carefully open the back from the bottom, not the top. The top is installed under the “lid” of the machine and isn’t as easy to get off. 3. Open and close the ice tray to start the pump. 4. Locate the pump, mine is on the left side with two water lines hooked up to it and in a silicone sleeve. 5. Carefully reach your hand under the back cover from the bottom and flick or wiggle the pump with your finger. I’m planning on remounting the pump with a 3D printed piece to minimize the uphill intake angle. Hope that helps!

Q: Does it make noise? My dog flips when ice hits.
A: Is does make noise when making ice but it’s not as loud as our fridge ice maker.
submitted byMAMA3FROMCLE - 1 year agoA: Mine is pretty quiet
submitted bySAC - 7 months agoA: It is pretty loud to be honest . This is my first ice machine and I didn’t know what to expect . I was kinda shocked how loud it is .

Q: Is this white or ivory?
A: It’s more of an ivory/cream!
submitted byHeadman19 - 1 year agoA: Watch the video it tells you
submitted byConcerned consumer - 1 year agoA: I would say somewhere in between. An “off-white” so not stark white but not a yellowish ivory either

Q: Does this come with the water reservoir that goes on the side? One of the product photos shows it attached to the ice maker, but it’s not listed in the product description or in any of the review photos.
A: The side tank is sold separately but it should come with one. It's so small you're just refilling it all day long
submitted byConcerned consumer - 1 year agoA: No, the side tank is sold separately.
submitted byMckmer - 1 year agoA: Not sure why it isnt at Target yet, but this is the side tank: https://www.geappliances.com/appliance/GE-Profile-Opal-Hearth-and-Hand-Side-Tank-OPAL01GHSDTK

Q: Can the extra water side tank be placed on the right or left side (either side)?
A: Yes it can be used either side
submitted byCMG - 8 days agoA: The extra side water tank can be attached on either the left or right side of the Opal ice maker.

Q: Does this have to be connected to a water line?
A: No it doesn’t have to be!
submitted byHeadman19 - 1 year agoA: It does not come with the reservoir. If you can find it and use the reservoir, then no, but mine only came with a water line like the fridge.

Q: I just got this machine. After about an hour my machine will shut off, resulting in all my ice melting. How do I fix this??
A: The water will automatically recirculate, if you open and close the bin, that triggers the ice to be made again, but it is an automatic process as well!!
