Restaurant Quality Ice Nuggets at Home!

Excited to start using this ice maker
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was gifted this ice maker by my son and daughter-in-law for Christmas.I have only just started using it but I love it the ice is high quality, the machine looks like it's well made and there's not very much noiseand it looks like there should be plenty of ice. I am excited to continue using this ice maker this Summer that should be the real test!

Great ice but too squeaky
Love the ice, hate the noise. This is a great product except that despite sanitizing and descaling, this device makes squeaking noises. Even got a replacement through warranty and same issue started again within 2 weeks. I guess it’s a design flaw.

In heaven!
I bought this icemaker after one year of frustration with the cheap one I had previously. I cannot even begin to say how grateful I am. Easy to install and run. Super quiet. Generates amazing ice. And somehow the ice doesn’t seem to melt as fast in the container, so the compressor goes on far less often than my old one. I’m in heaven!

Loud screeching noises.
Wow. Couple days in and already getting the screeching loud noises that wont stop until you unplug. This is absolutely unacceptable for such an expensive item. Love the ice but definitely disappointed.

Loud noises
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well I finally bit the bullet and purchased this ice maker. Took the first one back for an exchange because of the noise level, it squealed so very loud. The second one did the same thing after just two weeks. VERY loud. Then I contacted GE and they were able to ship a new ice maker; I sent the second machine direct to them (GE). Well two weeks later the ‘new’ 3rd machine is making the same squealing noise, and it already wants me to sanitize the machine. We are not happy with our decision to purchase this ice maker. We love this ice nuggets and how fast it produces the ice we just don’t love the noise this machine makes especially at 2:30 AM.

When the Opal is in need of defrosting, it may start to squeak as ice starts to build up around the mechanisms. The sound you are hearing might be the defrost cycle going on, it is automatic and takes around 10 to 45 minutes. Disappointed

Great ice, easy to use once set up
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works extremely well. Takes some time to correctly set up and sanitize (and rinse!), but once it's done it makes the best ice in 10 minutes flat. Less noisy than I thought it would be based on the other reviews -- yes you can hear it, but it's quieter than an air fryer.

Quieter than original
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Day 1 of having my new ice maker. Comparing it to the original Opal, I will say that this one is much quieter. Which owls what I wanted. After 5 years, our original finally stopped making ice but not before it started making horrible loud noises. I like that this newer model is much quieter and a bit smaller. However, the downside seems to be that the water reservoir is smaller. Day one and the tank is already half empty.

Won’t last
Machine broke around two years ago monthly maintenance/cleaning was done. Still did not last. No help from the company. Huge expense with no fix or service.

So far the ice machine is doing great. Ice is really small. As far as the instructions i think they could be a little more detailed. But over all seems good
