Great new product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the Cricut Explore 5 and it’s such a solid everyday machine. It cuts vinyl, iron-on, cardstock, and stickers really clean and fast. It’s full-size but doesn’t feel bulky, and it’s super easy to use for everything from quick projects to batching. If you want one machine that can do a little bit of everything without overcomplicating it, this is a great go-to.

Hands down the best Cricut upgrade so far
I purchased this machine just to compare it to all my others. I was blown away by its speed and how fast it reads registration marks for print then cut. I also love the new size and shape. Well done Cricut!

Old pens won't work
I bought the Explore 5 the day it came out! I had an Air2, and wanted to upgrade. The E5 cuts fantastic wih any material, at super fast speed. The biggest downfall is that all the pens and markers that I have collected for my Air2 WILL NOT WORK with the E5!! I did not know this prior to buying it. Had I known, I would have went with the E4 or M4.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We truly appreciate you reaching out. We understand how disappointing it can be when tools you already have aren’t compatible with a new machine, and your experience with the Cricut Explore 5 is important to us. You’re absolutely right that the pens made for the Cricut Air 2 do not fit the Explore 5. This machine does use a new line of pens, which you can find here: https://cricut.com/en-us/tools-accessories/machine-tools/pens-markers?prefn1=machineCompatibility&prefv1=Cricut+Explore+5 If there’s anything we can clarify, explore further, or help make this transition easier for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Member Care team. We’re always happy to help and want to make sure you have the best possible experience.

Sadly not an upgrade from my older Cricut
I was really excited to get a new Cricut machine as my current ones are several years old. At first I was impressed with the speed of the new Cricut Explore, but unfortunately the issues started not long after I began using it. The main problem has been with Print Then Cut. It works one minute and then completely fails the next. I’ve wasted a lot of materials and printer ink trying to get it to work consistently. I’ve also spent time speaking with Cricut support via chat to troubleshoot the problem, but nothing has resolved it. To test whether it was my design or settings, I ran the exact same project on my older Cricut Maker, and it cut perfectly with no issues. This makes me believe the machine I received may be faulty. It’s really disappointing because I had high hopes for upgrading my machine, but the inconsistency and wasted materials have been frustrating. Unfortunately I would like to return it.

Liking the new Cricut Explore 5
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice update to an already great Explore cutting machine. Love the compact size and lighter weight, I’ve had good results with print then cut and precise basic cutting with a variety of materials. Specially like the 2x card mat, practical if you only need 1 or 2 cards. Super handy that you can use your existing Joy pens/markers in addition to the new Universal Pens/Markers.

Not impressed so far...
My new Explore 5 was delivered today. I've been using Cricut for years. I'm not impressed so far... 1. Connection. USB c to USB c cable included. Only the newest computers have a USB C port. Mine is a couple years old. I don't care for blue tooth technology on a computer... 2. Where is the power button??? I do NOT want to leave my machine powered on all the time. 3. Why did you change the pens? My large collection of Cricut brand pens no longer work with this new unit... 4. What is going on?!? I tried to draw and cut. The machine drew where it was supposed to. Then it paused and advised me to add the blade, then continue (never had to pause and add a blade before since it has its own spot). When I hit the button to continue, the unit did not cut anything! Instead it drew what it was supposed to cut, an inch to the left! Um .. what?? *Please get it together.. I was so very excited for this new machine... Now I'm bummed about having it...

Cricut Explore 5, Worth it on a budget?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cricut Explore 5, Worth It on a Budget? If you want to get into Cricut-ing without dropping Maker-level money, the Explore 5 is honestly a sweet spot. It cuts all the everyday stuff, vinyl, iron-on, cardstock, stickers (yes, it does Print Then Cut), which covers 90% of what most people actually make. Shirts, decals, birthday banners, labels… you’re good. You don’t need all the heavy-duty tools unless you’re cutting wood or engraving metal. I also love that it doesn’t take up a ton of space. It feels practical, not over-the-top. Is it the most powerful machine Cricut makes? No. Is it the smartest buy for a casual crafter or small side hustle on a budget? Absolutely. If you’re trying to Cricut without crying at checkout, this is a solid choice.

Explore 5: A Thoughtful Evolution
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Getting started with this machine was incredibly easy. The Load & Go feature removes a step from the workflow — something I didn’t realize would matter until I used it. My machine sits across the room, and that small change streamlined the process more than I expected. The buttons are intuitive, loading feels smooth, and the machine is stable while running. It is noticeably louder than my Maker 4, which is worth mentioning, but not a dealbreaker in my space. They’ve intentionally slowed the speed compared to the Maker 4. While the Maker 4 remains the leader in speed and overall versatility, the Explore 5 delivers clean, consistent cuts that feel confidence-building rather than rushed. It covers what most crafters truly need to create amazing projects without feeling limiting. Compatibility is where this machine really shines. It can use the Deep Point Blade from the Maker series, and while the tool system is slightly different overall, I see that as a long-term improvement. If you’re already deeply invested in Cricut tools, change can feel like an adjustment. But if I put on my “new to Cricut” glasses, this updated blade system is safer and more intuitive from day one. The standout for me is pen compatibility between the Joy and Explore machines. That’s a big deal. It means you can start with a Joy, build your pen collection, and move into an Explore without feeling like you have to reinvest all over again. That continuity makes the ecosystem feel intentional and accessible. I was able to make vinyl decals, HTV projects, cards, and spend a lot of time with Print Then Cut right away. The simplified calibration process makes it quick to set up and easy to trust. The included material bundle was also a smart touch — it allowed me to really explore what the machine could do from day one. The open design caught my attention at first — I did briefly think about dust — but realistically, I rarely closed my other machines unless I was traveling. It hasn’t been an issue. The Maker 4 is still the powerhouse of the lineup. But the Explore 5 fills a very important space. It makes stepping into a full-format Cricut far more accessible while still delivering the performance most crafters need. Since receiving it, it has quietly become my primary go-to machine.

Amazing!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been having so much fun getting to know the Cricut Explore 5, and I have to say. the Explore 5 truly impressed me right from the start. Setup was quick and easy straight out of the box, and I loved that it came with plenty of materials and tools so I could start creating right away. Just open the box, set up, and create. One of my favorite features is the new Load & Go system. You place your material on the mat, load it into the machine, press one button, and it automatically loads and starts cutting. It’s so smooth and easy. What stood out most to me is just how easy this machine is to use. The Explore 5 is beginner-friendly while still being powerful enough for advanced crafters. I absolutely love it!

Sleek, Redesigned Cricut Cutting Machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cricut Explore 5 is a sleek, streamlined machine that really shows how far Cricut has come over the past 20 years. When I first opened the box, I was surprised by the redesigned look since it doesn’t resemble earlier models. The open design initially made me wonder how it would hold up in my (dusty!) Arizona craft space, but it’s been completely fine. It’s also more compact than I expected. I was even able to place it on a shelf where my Maker 3 wouldn’t fit, which is a huge win for anyone working with limited space. The biggest difference in performance is the new “load-and-go” functionality. It takes a few projects to get used to watching the on-screen prompts and loading tools when directed, but once you do, it’s a real time saver. Load your material or mat and it begins cutting right away. The pen system is slightly different as well. You just need to press firmly until you hear the click, and then you’re ready to go. Setup overall is incredibly easy. The machine walks you through the process step by step so you can go from unboxing to creating quickly and confidently. One of the best features for new users is the Essential Bundle option. Having the most-used tools and materials included makes it so easy to start making right away without guessing what you’ll need. You can truly hit the ground running and complete your first projects without placing extra supply orders. As far as upgrading, I wouldn’t move from a Maker 3 or 4 since this doesn’t have the same Maker-level mechanics, and it may not be a big enough jump from an Explore 3 or 4. However, if you’re coming from an Explore Air 2, Joy, or Joy Xtra, this is absolutely worth it. You get full 12-inch cutting capability with the speed of the newer machines in a compact footprint, making it a fantastic choice for both beginners and experienced crafters looking for a streamlined machine.

Sleek, precise & love the upgrades!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am absolutely LOVING the new Explore 5! First thing that grabbed me was the sleek new look and color are beautiful. It truly fits into any aesthetic and looks so clean and modern in my craft space. I also love that it’s more compact and takes up less room on my table. The new snap-in pen holder is an awesome new addition! No more loosening and tightening clamps every time you change pens, love that! The Print Then Cut calibration is nothing less than magical if you ask me. It’s so simple now. I honestly don’t even understand how it works behind the scenes, but my cuts were spot on! No more trying to figure out the lines or numbers. And can we talk about the Load & Go feature?! AMAZING. No more pressing load, waiting, then pressing go again. Now one button does both. Such a small change that makes a huge difference. It cut my intricate cardstock, vinyl, veneer, and more perfectly. And I love that if I want an extra pass, I can simply press the Load/Go button again to run it through another cut cycle. So convenient! I was also pleasantly surprised to see this machine is less expensive than previous models while still delivering that high Cricut quality. The Essentials bundle I got was great too — it came with a nice variety of materials and tools so I could start creating right away. Overall, a lovely machine!

Fast, Dependable, Versatile & Beginner Friendly
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have added the Cricut Explore 5 to my arsenal of machines! Right out of the box, it is sleek and professional looking in a beautiful taupe color. If you are looking for a great full size starter machine or just looking to add another amazing machine to your craftroom, the Cricut Explore 5 is the one! This machine has all the features of the older versions but is 30% smaller and 5 pounds lighter - and that does not mean smaller cutting ability! The Explore 5 can cut up to a FULL 12 inches wide and up to 12 feet long when using Cricut Smart materials without a mat! I used this machine to create print then cut stickers that were spot on! The print then cut calibration has been revamped and it is incredibly fastand accurate! I think my favorite part of this upgrade is the load and go feature where you load the mat or material, it quickly measures it and goes right into cutting. This machine cuts so fast too! The new scoring tool being loaded in the blade slot allows the machine to add pressure when needed so your score lines are the perfect depth for the cardstock you are using. Better score lines means more precise folds! I received the Essentials bundle with mine which means that I was ready to go create a multitude of meaningful projects right away! No more running back to the craft store for supplies! The Explore 5 is honestly the perfect machine for beginners who want the 12 inch cut capability with a machine that is fast durable and can cut about 100 different materials. I do also love that all the old blades will work in this machine, so the fine point, the deep point, the fabric blade and the foiling tool are all interchangeable. The pens have been revamped as well so that moving forward we will have less confusion regarding which pens to use for which machine! While older pens will not work in this machine, the newer pens will work on the older machines.

Explore 5 is a Great NEW Machine Cricut, Thank you
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a longtime crafter, the new Explore 5 quickly earned a spot in my setup. It's 30% more compact and much lighter—easy to store, move, and use during long sessions (especially with two machines). It works with over 100 materials, giving tons of options. I've made insert cards, bookmarks, stickers, fabric layers, paper crafts, home decor—the results are good every time. Love the Load and Go feature: load the mat, it auto-measures and starts instantly—no GO button wait. Perfect for my limited time; I start it and move to the next task. Cricut's Explore 5 bundles are convenient—includes machine, materials, tools, mats. No extra store trips to the store. User-friendly, reliable, sleek design. Worth checking out if you're new and looking to own a Cricut or wanting to upgrading. I recommend it—already planning more projects!

I didn't want to love it....but I do!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first opened this box, I was a little skeptical. Cricut has released several previous Explore models, so my first thought was, “How is this one different?” Then I started playing with it. The more I used it, the more I loved it. This machine is fast. The cutting speed, the Print Then Cut scanning, even the way it moves the mat — everything feels quicker and more efficient. Print Then Cut was absolutely flawless for me. The cuts were perfectly aligned and spot on. One of my favorite improvements is the pen-to-blade calibration. In this model, the blade and pens sit in separate clamps but ride on the same carriage. That design makes a huge difference in precision when matching drawn lines to cut lines — and mine were nearly perfect. This is a major improvement over previous models. I also love the new “Load and Go” feature. You simply load your mat with material, and after the machine measures the mat length, it begins cutting without any extra prompting. It’s seamless and saves time. I tested a wide range of materials with this machine — cardstock, stickers, heavy watercolor paper, mat board, insert cards, and more — and everything cut beautifully. Another big win for me is the scoring tool update. With this version of the Explore, the scoring tool now rides in the same position as the blade. That change makes me incredibly happy because my score lines are now extremely precise. Even better, the scoring pressure feels more appropriate for different materials — lighter materials get a lighter score, and heavier materials get the deeper score they need. This machine is also more sleek than previous models so it takes up less space in my crafting area, which is always a bonus. While I wasn’t immediately convinced this machine would be a big upgrade, I’m completely sold now. It’s quickly becoming a go-to machine for me — and I don’t see that changing anytime soon!

Excellent Machine
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Amazing new machine, the Explore 5, easy to use straight out of the box. Set up was quick and easy, with plenty of materials and tools to start making right away. This new machine has load and go, only one button to push, and loads the material/mat and starts cutting immediately. The new scoring tool works well with all materials I tried. I tested several materials, different weights of cardstock, vinyl, iron-on, infusible ink, felt, acetate, and so on; the Explore 5 cut everything quickly and precisely.
