Q: How well does this vacuum do with cat litter and what is the scatter free technology?
A: Hi Shannon! This vacuum handles cat litter well thanks to its strong suction and Scatter-Free Technology, which is designed to keep debris from scattering across hard floors while you clean. The feature works by directing suction and airflow to pull particles in instead of pushing them away. Great for homes with pets!

Q: Just got my new Bissell vacuum cleaner model 3988 and it says that it has adjustable height. How do I adjust for high pile carpet??
A: Hi Annie, to adjust the height on your BISSELL CleanView Max Lift-Off (model 3988), look for the height adjustment knob near the base of the vacuum. Turn the knob to the highest setting for high-pile carpet so the brush roll can move freely without getting stuck. Lower settings are for low-pile carpet or hard floors.

Q: I have a new BISSELL CleanView Max Lift Off Tangle-Free Brush Roll Vacuum Cleaner. Is it normal for it to stink? It emits a burning plastic-like smell, and has done so since the first use.
A: Thanks for checking in. A burning plastic smell is not normal, especially from first use. It could mean something’s jammed, overheating, or a packing piece wasn’t removed. Please stop using it and call BISSELL Consumer Care at 1-800-237-7691 so we can help troubleshoot.

Q: Why does the tangle free brush roll no longer roll when applied to a rug or the couch? It was previously spinning and nothing is happening now.
A: If the Tangle-Free Brush Roll on your CleanView Max Lift-Off vacuum (model 3988) has stopped spinning on rugs or upholstery, here are a few things to check: Brush Roll Switch – Make sure the brush roll is turned on if your model has a separate switch. Lift-Off Mode – If you're using the Lift-Off pod, the brush roll may not spin unless it's in floor mode. Obstructions or Debris – Check for any tangled hair or debris around the brush roll that could be blocking movement. Auto Shut-Off – The brush roll may stop if the vacuum senses resistance or overheating. If none of these help, we recommend contacting BISSELL Consumer Care at 1-800-237-7691 for further troubleshooting.

Q: Can you adjust the suction? So vacuums have a suction adjustment on the handle, for use on area rugs etc.
A: Thanks for asking! The BISSELL CleanView Max Lift-Off Vacuum (model 3988) does not have a suction adjustment on the handle.
