Instead of going through the trouble of patching and repainting we used the trim plate to cover up the ugly hole and mess in the wall. Problem solved and the plate looks really sleek and nice! You would never know the madness that's behind it! It was incredibly quick and easy to install.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You never know what the cutout for a thermostat looks like before you uninstall the old thermostat, and most of the time, unless you're repainting your walls the hole never quite matches. So I find it easier just to get the trim plate. It makes the installation look much cleaner. This just goes underneath the thermostat and hides any holes or paint marks. Definitely recommend!

It will hide the section of wall previously covered by your older model. If you already had a previous nest and your wall looks good then this add on isn’t necessary. Also. Super easy to install!

When I removed it, there was glue residue behind it as well as the wall color that was there before the house was repainted. The trim plate covers all of that mess and makes the thermostat look professional and neat. The trim plate is well worth it.

Since the Next Thermostat has a smaller profile than most, having an easy way to hide the opening and defects on the wall from my old mount is essential. So, having a trim kit that matches the style and color of the Nest thermostat is a wonderful idea! There are several colors to choose from and it’s very simple to install. Just use the four screws and install it where you need it. A steel plate is also included if necessary. Google also has helpful tutorials online, including one for setting up the thermostat. The thermostat just clicks into place in the middle of the plate, which also makes it easy to remove later when needed. It’s important to note this is not for the E or Learning models. Having a trim kit that matches aesthetically really makes the Nest Thermostat stand out. The rounded edges give it a modern look. If you’re looking for form and function, I highly recommend getting this trim kit along with your Nest Thermostat. It not only hides any flaws from your previous installation but helps make installation easier.

Easy to put up and it blends right in to the background unlike some thermostat plates or boxes that are bulky and stand out. Actually only took a few minutes to get just right. Once in the G2 fits snuggly in.

Unfortunately my previous thermostat needed more coverup to hide its former appearance. Fortunately I like the curved edges of this trimming. It adds character to the wall instead of a plain rectangular back trim plate I was planning on using. I’m very happy with it!

I don't know how to remove thermostats, doorbells etc from walls before painting (well actually I am lazy) but I love changing up paint color so I repaint at least once a year, painting right up to the edges of our ancient t-stat. We decided to upgrade to a Nest, and boy was there a mess on the wall when DH pulled the old one off: screw holes, multiple edges of raised paint, dents, all of which would have shown with the new Nest. However this trim plate, which matches the Nest perfectly covered it all up. You would never know what kind of mess I had behind there!! Easy to install, well worth the small added cost to have a professional, clean installation.
