Easy install and setup.
The stat has a very clean interface and can easily accommodate most people's needs. The primary display provides the necessary information at a glance. The menus and sub-menus (for programming) are logical and step-wise. Internet connection is straightforward.

Freezing

Not a plug and play install. Just takes time to get it done. The satellite monitor mounts are definitely not ideal or quality.

Easy to Install, Setup and Use
I've been using this thermostat since the beginning of December. My wife and I installed it ourself (my hands have tremors, but it still was easy to completely install). This thermostat was a terrific upgrade compared to what we were using. I like the statistics it provides (for the current month to date). The Sensors help to even out the temperatures through out our house. I am extremely pleased with this purchase.

Good hardware but closed APIs are a problem
I purchased two Ecobee Premium thermostats for two separate houses to replace smart thermostats that I had purchased over a decade ago. One of the primary reasons for choosing Ecobee was that I could integrate them locally via Apple HomeKit into Home Assistant. This does work, but the HomeKit API is severely limited in terms of the controls and data it exposes. Further, Ecobee stopped giving out developer kit API keys in mid-2024, which makes their API inaccessible now. This is a significant limitation for anyone who is looking to have better access to both control and monitor their thermostats. Ideally, they would provide locally accessible APIs or expand what is possible via HomeKit APIs. Overall, I would say this is still a good thermostat to purchase, but the limitations around API and local control are definitely problematic. You cannot trust cloud based services, because they can and will brick your devices at any point in the future.

Nest replacment
After Google sundowned our perfectly working Nest Gen2 smart thermostat we went on the hunt mostly for a better company. Ecobee has proven to be that better company. Took a while to figure out how to get it working because of our unique wiring but finally did and Ecobee support was superb! Google support- no time for the customer.

Excellent Upgrade From Nest Thermometer
I've waited to review the ECOBEE thermostat because I wanted to have some experience with the device after the initial setup. My experience was simply amazing. The packaging, setup instructions, and actual installation were all well thought out and customer friendly. This is a quality product from a quality manufacturer. I am glad I upgraded from the Nest product to Ecobee.

I replaced my Nest thermostats that came with my home when Google stop supporting the generation 1&2 units. I have an Ecobee at my vacation home so it was a no brainer. It is by far the best smart thermostat you can buy. Consumer Reports ranks them number one and I agree.

Easy to install once you have the correct wiring. Ours was 1 four wire run, split half way into 2 two wire runs, then those were wire split into a 1 five wire. Wasn't sure how to use the adapter or running it straight. Ended up just running a completely new 5 wire from thermostat to HVAC and hooked it up directly, no adapter. Setup of the unit didn't go right the first time, but I did a reset and set it up correctly the second time. Just missed a step the first time. Once setup, it has been keeping our home nice and comfy. Love the time frames for when to change to a lower temp, no more forgetting and needing to go back downstairs at night. Set it and forget it. Love the Heat/Cool (Auto) so the thermostat knows when to turn the heat and/or cool on based on current temperature.

ecobee Smart is a smart buy.
Easy to program, can regulate temperatures at different times or day or night. App available. Economy link with local provider available. I especially love the Puck that you can put on a different floor - like in the finished basement. With the main thermo on the upper floor, the puck is designed to bring the lower floor up to your setting on the thermo before it shuts off. This way, both floors are the same temperature. Great feature. The thermo also has outside temperature and a four-day forecast feature. Nice unit.
