5 year life span.
I received this as a gift about 5 years ago, it just died. I spoke to a technical specialist, they said it was an electrical issue and could not be fixed. I then spoke to a supervisor who said, "That is an appropriate life span for this machine. We do have other (more expensive) machines which last longer." He offered me a discount towards the purchase of a new machine. When I asked why I should add my dead machine to my landfill/recycling bin only to have to do the same thing eventually with the next Nespresso, he said "That is the best I can do." ----- To continue: After I saw the response from Nespresso: (....Rest assured that we'll be happy to further assist you via live chat on our website....) I reached out one again through the chat. And this was the response: "Please note that as agents from the digital chat, we can only share with you troubleshooting steps that you may follow to try fixing your machine." So, it was a total waste of time. Plus my initial chat was disconnected, so I spend a total of another 30 minutes with Nespresso only to be now futher ahead.

Don't buy this model
If you're shopping for a Nespresso machine do NOT buy this one. I've gone through two Vertuo Next machines in a three year span and both have stopped working due to a mechanical water pump issue. I can't tell you how many pods have been wasted because the machine will randomly stop working despite being perfectly fine the previous day. I love the taste and quality of Nespresso coffee and I've already purchased a different model, but I have to say I'm disappointed that their machines barely last for two years. For a company that prides itself on recycling and sustainability they should be more dedicated to creating a longer lasting product and avoiding their machines ending up in landfills.

Disappointing
I purchased a second vertuo because my first was leaking around the head of it and unfortunately the second one is doing the same. I think I’ll return to a regular coffee maker instead of wasting my money on these garbage products.

Très déçu
Très déçu de cette machine. Fermeture nécessite d’appliquer de la force. Pas de créma persistante, disparaît au bout de quelques minutes. Café pas assez chaud. Le résultat ressemble à un café filtre (au prix de Nespresso…). Plastique fragile. Très bon service après-vente de Nespresso, garantie de satisfaction la machine est retournée.

Love Nespresso not this machine
We love Nespresso and have purchased many machines for our home and cottage however the design of this model is awful. The lock on/off lever is very stiff and the design of the used Nespresso pod case is awful. All the pods collect nicely but when you take it out for recycling all the pods fall out all over our counter. The pod box only has high sides on part of the box so all the pods will always fall out. Machines 5 years ago were better.

Terrible Product! Stay clear!
Just purchased and had many issues! First, it does not get very hot and cools very quickly even after I preheated my mugs. Second, the app is very unstable and constantly cut out. Also, it came with a frother, which did not froth in the slightest. Finally, Nespresso is making us pay for the return shipping although the products are of very poor quality. We only had it one day and they wouldn't cover the shipping cost. I would consider going to one of their competitors.

Great when it works and when pods were less money.
We have had this machine for about a year, makes great coffee when it works properly. Some pods wouldn't work and It would waste the pods (which have become more expensive) The bluetooth also did funny things and we would have to reset everything to make it work again. Also, living in Canada the recycling process changed multiple times and was a pain to get the bags of pods shipped out. Overall not recommended.

Amazing!
I love it! I always keep it clean and let it drain water after every cup and used a brush to clean the inside. I love it and the coffee is amazing, fast and easy!

Broke after 2 years
I loved my machine while it lasted however after only owning it for 2.5 years it randomly quit one morning. The machine would no longer read the barcodes even with all the recommended actions from nespresso themselves. Sad that you can only get a few years out of these machines and thats it.

Love my new machine!
I got this for Christmas from my Fiancee, I was wasting money on coffee shop lattes but this has saved the day! I love being able to make an iced or hot latte from the comfort of home and for a fraction of the price. The machine works well and is easy to use!

Great coffee. Narrow but very long design.
Just got the white Vertuo next yesterday! So far my house smells amazing. My only complaint and a fault of my own I wish I would have paid more attention to the dimensions. The next is narrow but very long I can’t seem to find a spot anywhere in my kitchen that it will fit nicely. I wish I would have chosen the flat or round head instead for a more square footprint to fit better on the counter as the water reservoir doesn’t seem to be at the back of those which also makes it difficult to get to on the next. This morning while trying to get the very thick stiff power cord out to plug it in it knocked off the water reservoir lid and it sank all the way to the bottom of the water tank. Just personal preference as I have zero experience with Nespresso machines so I’m still learning but if I had to do it again I would choose differently.

Waste of money
Dead after only 20 months....like so many others in the reviews. Immediately following descaling, the machine stopped drawing water from the reservoir. Machine stalls, 2 red blinks. Tried all the on line cleaning & re-starting hacks. No luck. Do not buy the hype. A 'Good' product would come with a 5 year warranty. This company cowers behind a 12 month warranty with full knowledge of the failure rate.

Piece of junk! Don't buy!
My husband purchased this thing about 6 weeks ago. It worked ok for 5 weeks and now is completely dead. It worked one day and not the next. The button doesn't light up at all. The manual says that if the light isn't on, the machine isn't on. Really? No **** Sherlock. No explanation as to why it isn't on. I plugged it in to various outlets, made sure it was locked properly, the water jug was full and attached properly, tried different pods (wasted 3 expensive limited edition ones) and nothing. It is going in the garbage. I read some negative reviews by people who had their's die in 6 months to a year. They were lucky. Mine didn't even last 2 months!! Inferior product. The 2 or 3 cups I got out of it didn't even taste that great anyway. The flavoured ones didn't actually have a flavour. They just tasted like burnt regular coffee. Will never buy another nespresso product. 0 stars for me on this thing.

Doesn't switch out of descaling mode.
The machine is great, until you need to descale it. I had nothing but issues with descaling this thing. It does not program back to coffee making mode and becomes garbage. I did have it covered under warranty at one point, and it was fixed, lasted another year after the fix and would not get out of descaling mode. Not the only person with this issue, do research before purchasing this is a major issue with these machines. Ended up purchasing a round head nespresso instead.

Scam
Don't waste your money. This machine worked for 5 months. They have known the issue for years et they keep selling it. Avoid this scam at all cost!

Good coffee - terrible design.
Makes great coffee but the design is terrible. Placing the water at the back seems like a great idea but in practice it's a nuisance to fill and the water tank itself will leak despite the valve that's meant to prevent it.
