I believe that for touch-ups, it can be cumbersome to set everything up just for a small refresh. However, for a full head of color, this device simplifies the process, reducing mess and cleanup while allowing you to reach areas of your hair that might be missed with traditional dyeing methods.

It is easy to use and not very messy. I still think I prefer traditional hair color techniques. The color is higher quality with other products in my opinion.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I heard great things about the L’Oreal Paris Colorsonic Hair Color Device, so was excited to try it for myself. I have fine, black, curly hair. I do not currently have color treated hair, nor do I have gray roots. However, I do notice a random stray gray every now and then, so want to master the art of this tool for when I will really need it for covering grays well. I opted for Black Natural, which appeared to be the closest black shade to my natural color. I first had to charge the device, which I did while working from home. When I was ready to begin coloring, I made sure to first put on a junky t-shirt, my self-purchased black cape and the black gloves that came with this device. I had watched the online tutorial several times already, but was still a little nervous. I read through the instructions on the waterproof sheet one more time and then popped in the color cartridge. I held the device over a tupperware container in the sink, just in case things got messy. Once the color started dispensing and indicator light appeared, I was ready to begin. I first applied the color to my roots and then used the attachment to apply color to the length. I was a little awkward with my hand and device coordination, so that will take some getting used to. But my hair is very thin, so it took no time at all to saturate my entire head. I did find that I used my hands more than anticipated to work the color through. I then clipped up my locks and waited 30 minutes for the color to process. While waiting, I followed the instructions to clean the device and still had plenty of color to save for another couple colorings per the indicator. When the timer went off, rinsed my hair using only the conditioner that was included with the hair color. I styled my hair as I normally would and am quite pleased with the results. My dry hair really soaked up the color, which ended up a great match. My hair feels noticeably softer as well. Overall, this hair color device worked nicely, wasn’t as messy as I thought and was fairly easy to use. Because I have such thin, unruly hair, I can’t justify spending salon money to color my hair. Therefore, the value is worthwhile for someone like me, who will continue coloring my hair at home. However, it will take some practice to master the technique and I am really not sure whether it is easier to color my hair with this device or using a basic hair coloring brush. I think time and practice will tell.

I received the Colorsonic Hair Color Device from L'Oréal Paris. I loved its elegant, impressive, and beautiful case. Upon opening it, I found all the necessary accessories for coloring my hair, including gloves and clear, easy-to-follow instructions, from the test strand to how to clean it afterward. It's easy with the dye cartridges; you simply insert them, and it's as if you were brushing your hair as it colors. With just the touch of a button, it alerts you when it's ready to use. It smells like regular hair dye. I liked how easy and easy it is to clean. The first thing you do is color the gray hairs completely with the included bristles, leaving them perfectly covered. Then you color the rest of your hair. After rinsing, you add the included conditioner, which provides hold and leaves your hair very soft. I loved the results. It's easy and quick to apply, ammonia-free, and provides 100% gray coverage. It's perfect for touch-ups or for coloring your entire head of hair with just one cartridge, just like going to the salon. Highly recommended.

Super happy with how it works. I wish it had a small case for storing after and love how it comes with empty water bin to clean after use.

I personally just felt like it took extra time not only to color but clean up after as well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was skeptical of this product at first. It seemed like more of a hassle than the usual way I dye my hair with box dye which seemed easier. But once I actually figured it out and used it, it’s actually really cool. I had to charge it before using because it doesn’t come fully charged, but it just puts out a small amount of product and easily brushes through your hair to do your roots or you add an attachment to do the lengths of your hair as well. Fully covered everything really well. I like how the hair dye only gets on my hair and not all over my face like when I did it with other hair dye products, so it’s way less messy and also you don’t have to throw away the dye cartridge if you don’t use it all like most hair dyes. If there is some left, you can reuse it for next time, which is really great. The cleanup was super simple as well and the instruction booklet that came with it was very easy to understand.

My biggest issue was after a few days I try to use the remaining product of a tube and the device was not mixing properly, i lost a lot of products but after a few minutes start mixing again.

The device is huge and cumbersome, I found it uncomfortable to hold and use going through my thick curly hair, I detangled it prior to using and it still got caught in my caught multiple times throughout. They say you can get multiple uses out of one color cartridge if you’re only doing the root touchup, now this was one of the reasons I was quite interested in it because often I only do a root touchup however, this time I wanted to do a full color my hair is shoulder length, thick and curly, and it took an entire tube and a half of color in order to saturate my hair enough not only would that be very expensive to keep up with, but you also have to put the product in the device and run it for a couple of minutes in order for the product to mix as it’s happening it’s spilling the product into your sink not only wasting the product, but also creating a very big mess. You are not supposed to shampoo your hair after using only conditioning with the included conditioner. Now the included conditioner was not very much so I only got a one time use out of that , also, after I washed out my hair, my hair not only felt very dry and brittle, but it also felt dirty because I wasn’t able to actually get it clean. It made a mess out of my top that I put on afterwards and out of the towel that I used to dry my hair leaving hair color stains on everything even though I rinsed for a few minutes till it became clear in the shower. I am used to helping out my family but on myself, I need help and salons are pretty expensive. Secondly, I have been having a spurt of white hairs(can't see in the picture of course, oh well) here and there and his tool helps a lot. This tool helps in distributing the product really well. There's not much to do except to put in the cartridge and slide it through your hair. It doesn't feel too heavy for me and the product distribution is consistent. It is rather quick too which is a bonus. Overall this is amazing.

It took a little getting used to but after I got the hang of it was very easy. I like that you don’t have to mix it and you can use all of it for full color or use a little for root touch ups and save the rest, no waste. The color was perfect, usually it to dark or red. It’s easy to clean, just put water in the rinse container and flush it through.

I had to stop doing hair because of tendonitis in my neck and shoulders. This was a game change today. I was able to get through coloring my mom's hair without any pain. This was effortless and easy to use and even easier to clean. While I wished I had gotten a shave darker for her, it still blended her greys nicely. I did a root touch up and it took 30 minutes to apply. The instructions are very easy to understand

Super easy to use and set up, totally mess-free, and it makes coloring your hair FAST. There is a small learning curve with application and cartridge switching mid application but overall is very user friendly. Plus the applicator feels like a mini scalp massage 🥰 Only downside: it didn’t fully saturate my bangs, so they came out a little uneven. Next time I’ll massage the color in to make sure everything blends evenly. I have long hair and used about 1.5 cartridges, but you can save the leftover one for touch-ups (fingers crossed it works for my roots in a couple weeks 🤞). Overall, such a game-changer for at-home hair color.
