I like not needing someone else to help me, because I can always do my hair on my own time. I picked the color dark brown and it came out so pretty. I especially liked the conditioner was sent, it makes my hair so shiny!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Don't get me wrong the 6A is a nice color when paired with the Colorsonic but the Colorsonic is not the greatest device for my needs. As someone with a partial disability with arm fatigue and a tendency to drop items this was okay but could be better. The bottom of the device is not flat making it that if you need a small break it will not sit upright leading to color getting on countertops. When I first put the color insert in I had a hard time clicking it together and it took multiple times until it finally clicked in. The initial start up was easy and the color mixed somewhat well, the comb was easy to use and I was able to get my roots done easily by myself for once. The length comb was an absolute pain, I first had trouble getting it to click in with hair dye on my hands, it did not go through my hair mids and ends easily and it felt like I kept missing sections so I ended up taking it off and just dispensing it onto my hands to distribute it instead but the color didn't look quite mixed together. The cleaning portion was easy but the comb took several sessions and wasn't clean so I had to wash it off by hand gently. The gloves are not the greatest and will probably not hold up to multiple uses so I would have a spare pair on hand in case they do break. The only other thing I did not like was the smell of the colorant as it first smelled like rotten eggs before a high ammonia smell, and it did not cover some greys that I did have, the conditioner was great at smoothing my hair but did nothing to help with the smell of my hair after coloring. (I have included pics of my hair down in the before and up in the after, i couldn't include pics of the machine in use as it was too difficult to do by myself)

It doesn’t always follow the prompt when I push the button to have it run a mode but it did cover most of my hair evenly with no mess. The videos and directions were really easy to follow and I felt confident in coloring my little stray white strands. I’d say the color isn’t as dimensional as my own hair but it is very shiny and my hair after the conditioner included feels great.

However, after it warmed up and dripped its 20 seconds of hair dye, it would not work again. It was fully charged and powers on, but now its "stuck".

The color comes in cartridges, and the wand does the mixing for you (huge plus). It’s rechargeable and easy to charge, comes in an eco-friendly box, and you take a quick online quiz that helps match your shade. Gloves are included. Application is no bowls and no manual mixing, but it can get a little messy if you’re not careful. You need to hold the wand close to the scalp and drag it all the way back to the nape to ensure proper saturation. I also recommend combing your hair out really well beforehand — especially if you have longer hair — or it can be challenging to get through. The only learning curve for me, even as a former colorist, was trusting that the hair was saturated enough. In the end, the color turned out beautiful: natural-looking, grays fully covered, and my hair still felt soft. Would I replace salon color? No. Would I recommend this between appointments or for easy gray coverage? Absolutely.

The device itself makes at home hair coloring feel almost effortless. If you are capable of brushing your hair, you can absolutely use this tool. The instructions included in the box are clear and easy to follow. One of the biggest advantages for me was how evenly I was able to apply the dye. I managed to fully saturate my roots without needing an extra set of hands, something I usually rely on when coloring at home. That alone felt like a game changer. However, the downside is that the system locks you into using its proprietary color cartridges. That limitation makes me hesitant to use it regularly. While the shade I tried was flattering and looked great initially, it did not cover my grays as effectively as other permanent dyes I have used. On top of that, the color faded noticeably faster than I expected. Also, I have porous hair and to just cover my roots, I used almost an entire cartridge. If the formula offered better gray coverage and longer lasting results, this would easily become my go to coloring method. As it stands, I still appreciate how convenient and user friendly the device is so I may continue using it, but I would need to color my hair more often to keep my roots from showing.

I am a retired hairstylist and this would have been a great tool to use in my clients. Since I am retired, I don’t visit the salon quite as often, so I normally just color my hair at home. It is very lightweight and very quiet, not at all a loud noise. This cuts my applying time in half. Now I can’t live without it!

The light was green, so I thought h the at meant it was good to go. But it died after 5 minutes. The first two pics are before and the second two are after. The lighting is bad, but there was definitely a line between her natural color and dyed her prior. Now it looks beautiful.

Inside the box everything was labeled and easy to return to the correct spot for storage after use. I was thrown off by having to make sure it was charged before using it, but it only set me back a couple of hours (really my own fault for not reading closely). I feel like it covered well on my roots, but I was running out of dye by the time I needed to do the lengths of my hair, but maybe I spent too long on my roots. I really liked how easy it was to clean as well as it came with a cleaning cartridge to flush the dye out. I wish I had taken a picture mid-dye, but truly it was easy. As for the dye itself, it wasn’t a super transformative color, but it did warm up my hair a bit!

The first cartridge I used, only the developer came out and I couldn’t get the color to come out at all so I wasted a full cartridge. The device tells you what to do next based on lights changing colors but they don’t change correctly and there is no way to reset or start over when switching cartridges or if you have to remove a cartridge and put it back. The plastic feels cheap and it’s not easy to comb through your hair. When you do comb it it through, the color drips everywhere. It makes coloring your hair at home harder and more work.
