I hate to give this low review… absolutely love my glass mixing bowl. Yesterday I noticed a large crack along the bottom ring. Wasn’t leaking. But when I attached it back to my kitchen aid it just completely broke the bottom of and ended up shattering. Didnt even get my hand off it before it broke and cut me… Only had it for about 2-3months

New bowl design without metal base broke
This is my second glass bowl, the first one was great because it had a metal base that fit into the mixer. I dropped it and it broke. I bought a replacement 5 qt glass bowl and it no longer has a metal base. It did not seem like it fit well into the bottom from the start and part of the base chipped off while I was making bread. The bowl spun around clanking on the dough hook. I am lucky the whole thing didn't shatter. It is no longer useable because the base does not lock in.

Buyer Beware
Loved this bowl until it shattered while mixing. It seemed small pieces went everywhere and I had to throw all my ingredients. Creaming butter and sugar should not shatter a mixing bowl.

Glass mixing bowl best buy yet!

Not worth it
Got this 3 months ago, broke today after soaking it in the sink with soapy water. Now has a large crack running through half the circumference and up through the rim. As others have said, poor quality for what it should be able to handle.

Beautiful but dangerous
I received my first stand mixer as a gift and it has this glass bowl it was beautiful but after using it 3 times it cracked when washing it. Just glad it didn’t cut me because it happened so unexpectedly, I didn’t drop it or anything it just slightly tapped the attachment and cracked. It made me so sad and unfortunately can’t afford buying a replacement right now so it’s been sitting in my cabinet.

Lids smell so bad I had to toss them
The bowl is the perfect size and works very well, I have no complaints with the bowl itself. My issue is with the plastic lid. It has a really strong chemically plastic smell that is so awful that even after taking the lid off the bowl itself smells like nasty plastic. I’ve had throw the lids away after trying all kinds of cleaning methods and leaving them for over a year they still have the smell. I regret not tossing them sooner, who knows what kind of chemicals I’ve let leech into my food over the years.

Shattered
I have had it for a few years. It was my second glass bowl. The first one broke. This one shattered when I turned on the mixer the other day and the glass shot out and cut my arm.

Glass Bowls With No Plastic Rims
A few years ago, I bought a new glass bowl for my Stand Mixer to replace the old one that I accidentally dropped. The mixer and the old bowl are decades old. I’ve been careful with the new bowl, especially after reading other reviews about breakage. Today, my husband had to spray the base of the mixer under the bowl with WD-40, in order to get the bowl off of the mixer without breaking it. It was stuck. Why did you change the design so that the glass base fits directly into the mixer without the previous plastic rim attached to the bowl?? You’ve created a hazard.

Love the measurements and lid for bread baking!
Nice size! As someone who bakes a lot of bread this bowl is perfect, I wanted something that was a good material for my sourdough so it wouldn’t stick. This also has measurements on the side so you can see exactly how much your dough has risen! As others have stated it is quite heavy but as a fully mobile 30 year old woman I find it manageable, other people who don’t have full mobility or range may find it a little too heavy though.

For the price, I should be able to pour hot milk into it without the bottom exploding out. At least the chunks of glass were fairly large...
