In 2026, the rules for the iPhone 17 Pro Max are very consistent, but there is one major "trap" to avoid. 1. If you buy from the Apple Store (apple.com) Yes, it is unlocked. Whether you pay in full or use Apple Card Monthly Installments, the phone comes unlocked from Day 1. The T-Mobile/Verizon/Boost Exception: Even if you choose one of these carriers during checkout at Apple to get a special deal, the phone still arrives unlocked. The AT&T Exception: This is the only "trap." If you buy from Apple but choose AT&T Installment Plans (financing through your AT&T bill), the phone will be locked to AT&T until the device is paid off in full. 2. If you buy from a Carrier (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T) No, it is usually locked. AT&T & T-Mobile: The phone is locked until you pay it off completely. For T-Mobile, this can sometimes take up to 365 days of active service. Verizon: They have a unique "60-day rule." Even if you are still paying for the phone, Verizon automatically unlocks it 60 days after activation, provided your account is in good standing. 3. If you buy from a Retailer (Best Buy, Target, Walmart) It depends on the "Flex Policy." Most iPhones sold at big-box retailers are "Reseller Flex" units. This means they are unlocked in the box, but they lock to the first SIM card (eSIM) you activate. From the Air to the. Pro Max

I had to trade my iPhone Air for the 17 Pro Max. I feel for the novelty of the lighter phone. The 18 Pro Max is a beast of a phone and more what I expect from an iPhone.

Battery life is trash

Phone is ok overall, but the battery dies way too fast. My iPhone 14 Pro Max was better and not worth the upgrade. I would wait and not purchase if you can go without.

Love my new iPhone 17 pro max

Love the color and the phone its battery life last all day and at least half the next day before I have to charge it . Best phone I have owned yet . Performance is fast helpful . Easy to navigate.

Charging time

It takes a long time to charge when I use the cable it came with. Not sure why but it takes more than 2 hours.

Excellent Battery life

Best iPhone yet! The battery life is excellent. I can get through a long day without having to recharge my phone. The size of the phone feels substantially larger than my iPhone 15 pro. I love it! The camera takes excellent photos and videos.

It's fine, it's just a little too big.

The thing I like most about the phone is the amount of memory that it holds. The picture seemed pretty good, but the phone itself is large. It keeps falling out of my pocket. Other than that it's fine.

Switched From IPhone 13 Pro to iPhone 17 pro max

recently upgraded from my iPhone 13 Pro Max 1TB in gray to the iPhone 17 Pro Max 1TB in Deep Blue, and I’m thrilled with the change. The new color is vibrant and refreshing, a huge step up from the muted gray of my old phone. Performance is lightning-fast thanks to the A19 Pro chip, with no overheating issues even during intensive tasks. Battery life is exceptional—I can easily go a full day and more without charging, far better than my previous model. The camera system shines with 48MP sensors across the board and 8x optical zoom, delivering stunning photos and videos. The brighter 120Hz display makes everything pop, and the aluminum unibody feels premium and durable. Overall, this upgrade has been worth every penny for the speed, longevity, and sleek design. Highly recommend!
