A: The Color is the difference.

A: No, this machine does not need a drain line. As ice melts, it is recirculated through the machine.

Not Food
I bought one years ago. I assume it was the opal 1.0. It was great , worked well until it just didn’t. Decided to buy a new one. I’ve had two of the opal 2.0 in the last 2 months. I returned the first 2.0. Kept turning it self off, always says cleaning. Replacement is doing the same thing. The 2.0 stinks. New and improved is not always a good thing.

Well, it does make nugget ice…. But the noise….
Ice maker does what it’s supposed to do, which is make ice nuggets. No issues there, but this maker does make A LOT of noise. It definitely lets you know either that it’s in the process of making ice or if it needs a cleaning of sorts. So if you’re not worried about some noise, than this is yours. Haven’t had any other problems with this.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wifi connection is a pain. 2 calls and still wasn’t working with the advice just being to unplug and plug it in. Super kind help however, and the ice…. Really great. Can’t beat it. Sonic ain’t got nothing on this thing. I think I’ll want to buy the extra reservoir to up capacity and production without refills. Ice basket is perfect size, and noise is minimal. Wifi install instructions and app are the only weakness. Perfect when they work, but getting them to work. A pain. Oh and final thing. Why is the app not called GE???

Easy soft crunchy ice

Don’t Purchase
This product sucks after the 12 month mark. It’s a shame because it’s a great ice maker but doesn’t last nearly as long as it should for the price. No different than most products these days.

Lots of work
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Its great at first but quickly fails. Makes a horrible loud screeching noise. Requires lots of of diligent and meticulous maintenance. ONLY USE DISTILLED WATER AND MUST CLEAN WEEKLY.

We are sorry to hear your Opal stopped working after 18 months. We recommend making sure your ice bin is pushed all the way in place. If it is out of place, it won't make ice. We also recommend resetting the electronics and unplugging it for 4 hours to see if that helps. We have some great troubleshooting tips on our site that we encourage you to view. I received a ised machine
I received a used machine. For the price, I am pretty disappointed to say the least. Not sure from where Target is shipping these from, but I do not recommend it. Why do I think it’s used? Because there are signs of it being wiped down(cleaned?) with with water spots on the inside. The ice scooper and ice holder are all scratched up.

Making strange noise
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently purchased and now it is making a very noticeable chirping noise, like there is a small bird stuck inside. The noise is only when the machine is making ice but it is still quite annoying. It wakes my wife up at night.
