Snags hair creates static
I have used GHD flatirons for years but I accidentally left mine at our hotel a few months ago and wondered if a $20 flat iron can do what a $200 flat iron can. The answer is “not even close.” it technically did straighten my hair, however, the heat is unevenly distributed so running the plates down my hair shaft caused a lot of static in the areas where the plates weren’t hot enough. It also snagged my hair and would either stretch it out or rip it out. So I don’t think I got any damage from The heat itself… It was just a cheaply constructed product that was cumbersome to use because of the snagging and the plates not touching each other. It’s not as glossy or attractive because of the static fly aways that it created. I had to return it. I saw that it was recently on sale for $11.99 so it might be nice as something to keep around your house as a back up for when you do run into situations where you lose the flat iron or if this is all you can afford it will still get the job done just not in a very elegant way.

I am black with 4c hair this will not straighten ur hair unless u have straight or like very light curls. Did not come with gloves. Burnt myself many times because there was no place to hold it where u wouldn’t get hurt. After I turned it on and it was on for a lil bit while I was trying it out, the label where it says Conair melted off. Don’t recommend for black beauty queens. 😭👎🏾

Doesn't straighten that good. I had to pass through my hair multiple times to get it to straighten. It was on the highest heat setting.I was going to a concert and just ordered these cause I could pick them up quickly and the price was ok. I know they are low priced but my other ones by Remington lasted years and were also low priced and worked great. I returned these the next day.I just wasn't impressed.

Will damage your hair - pass on this one
The plates do not smoothly straighten hair. It catches, snags, breaks hair and I need multiple goes to get the style. It heats quick enough and has the range of temps, but these features don’t offset the resulting damage.
