Q: Is this an everyday vacuum or just a carpet cleaner? Can this shampoo the carpet as well? Does it kills the fleas in the carpet?

A: I've never known a carpet cleaner, in itself, to kill fleas. You need treatments specifically targeting those. (You might try adding a little Dawn Dish Soap to the cleaning solution and to your dog's bath, though. It's as safe as any shampoo and is known to kill fleas.)
submitted byMarshaRme - 6 years agoA: This is not meant to be a vacuum. You need to vacuum with a regular vacuum prior to using this carpet cleaner as it will clump up a bunch of hairs if not but it will generally pick up any other hairs regular vacuuming does not catch as well and you have to clean out the unit after. I am not sure about fleas though. I have 2 rescue dogs and they both get monthly Frontline flea treatments so I have never noticed any fleas. I apologize that I cannot help you with that answer. They do piddle on the carpet sometimes so this is great especially if I need to spot clean. My routine is to vacuum first then use this as a carpet cleaner. They have a couple of different Bissell brand products to choose from ranging from Pet Antibacterial Cleaners and Deep Cleaners which works wonderfully in my opinion. I am very happy with my Carpet Cleaner. It does take time to clean and you have to allow time dry with no walking on it unless you have clean, bare feet. I hope this helps. Best of luck to you.

I’ve only gone over it once (have two large dogs and it is in a high traffic area that hasn’t been deep cleaned in over a year) and it already looks (and feels) so much more clean. Highly recommend!

A: We recommend dry vacuuming thoroughly prior deep cleaning your carpet. To clean the brush rolls, lay the machine down with the bottom of the foot facing up and there is a comb included for cleaning the brushes. Hope this helps!

Fantastic Rug Cleaner
Fantastic rug cleaner! It had been a minute since we last cleaned our carpets (plenty of small stains, addition of a puppy, etc.). This unit did an amazing job cleaning EVERYTHING well, and sucked most of the water out so drying was quick. Super simple to use as well! Highly recommend!

Good but not great
Very nice looking and powerful. It provides a good suction. However, in reality it lacks a proper contact with the carpet due to its light weight. For a thick carpet, we had to press the front part of the base to pull out the dirty water that was being left behind otherwise. Attachments are also not so great.

Not working properly
This machine leaks. When you stop moving it continues to put water on the floor. Our previous one did the same thing that's why we bought this one. Unfortunately for us, now we have to wait for another one and have only 3 days to get done. On the other hand, we do love this brand for it's cost and normally it's quality.

Great carpet cleaner
Great carpet cleaner — an upgrade from my previous unit. I especially appreciated the larger volume of clean and dirty water compartments and the wider swath cleaned in each pass 😊. Combines, this made the job more efficient without the need to empty/refill these reservoirs several times to clean an entire carpeted room.

Lost confidence In Bissell products
I am not happy with this unit, this is my fourth cleaner in two years, they do not hold up well and the drive belt always breaks. My new unit is only three weeks old and no longer dispenses liquid cleaning fluid. I am very disappointed in this Bissell product.

I would NOT recoomend this device.
I bought the ProHeat Bissell, the motor burned out before I finished using it the first time. I returned it and it was replaced. The second machine stopped the water flow to the brushes after the first use.

Piece of junk, DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!!
I bought and used once, cleaned the first time 4 rooms, sofa, chair, 2 stairwells and one hallway. Cleaned up machine as per instructions. Stat for 9 months in dry clean closet until fall cleaning was required. Now the machine doesn’t spray any Iiquid at all. Tried to prime pump, does not work, tried all the bissel solutions to resolve. It now looks like pump is faulty, I guess.

So far so good. I cleaned two rooms with light shade carpet. We have 2 dogs and one of the rooms had 'accident' stains on it for several months. I was very impressed that this Bissell machine cleaned. The stains are mostly gone and can see if you really look closely. It did a great job cleaning all of the carpet in both rooms. Also, even after thoroughly vacuuming both rooms, it was unbelievable the amount of dog hair that this Bissell machine was able to suck up. The dirty water bin was like mud. Hard to believe there was that much dirt in these carpets. This weekend I am doing our family room and also going to use the attachments on our sofa. ((and while I have it out and getting dirty, I am going over the carpets again in the 2 bedrooms.) Stay tuned.

Does a great job, reasonable price
Suction quality and efficiency is good. Durability and longevity is the only question mark I have. This is replacing a prior Bissell (almost exactly similar) that lasted three years under heavy usage, where the belt gave out. Thankfully they had a good promotion on this. We will see, crossing fingers.

Complete waste of money.
The biggest piece of junk I’ve ever wasted my money on. I’ve used it probably 10 times, just my living room. The bottom part no longer clicks in, the suction no longer works, it wont put any formula out. Completely useless. The clean water plastic broke within 1 week. PLEASE do not waste your money. Buy from another brand, Bissel is complete junk.

Oozes Rust and Won’t suck anymore
I bought this less than 2 years ago and it’s already unusable. It oozes rust and doesn’t suck anything up so you just have a heavily saturated still messy carpet. Tried taking it apart to fix but seems to be within the inner portions where the rust is oozing out from the exhaust air vents.

Worked on an area my dog kept peeing
Everything on the cleaner snapped together perfectly when putting it together. I love how easy it is to use. I moved into an apartment that must have had a dog living there before me. My dog kept peeing in that area in front of a door. After I bought this and went over the spots she had peed on, she has only peed there once. The one thing I don’t like is how it seems to drip a little after finishing. I made sure to put it in a closet without carpeting when I’m not using.
