Decent coverage, colors run darker
Decent color selection to build your own formula. Affordable pricing. Decent coverage. I use 10vol developer with the permanent line and it lasts roughly 3 months before fading starts and I don’t notice any lift in my natural color. For reference I’m a level 5 brunette with natural brass from sun exposure; no prior chemical bleaching and minimal gray. I have experimented with 5A + 5 WV, and now 6BC. ** Wella colors tend to run darker than their label so keep that in mind.** 5A on my hair came out like a level 3-4, too dark, but faded nicely over the next 5 weeks. To tone my level 5 brunette brass I can use 6/7 A or N formulations without taking it too dark.

Wella color charm
Loved the color of this hair dye, it’s creamy and blends really well. It has been holding very well through washes which is important to me.

Trust
That is what it says inside the box of the new color cream. Like so many of you I was hesitant and scared to use it, so let me put your mind at ease: For 10 years, I have been using Wella Color Charm gel in Titian Red Blonde and Light Golden Blonde, 3 parts of blonde to 1 part of red to achieve my realistic-looking strawberry blonde Read more about review stating Trust the process(following Molly on YouTube). I get complimented all the time on my hair color and people think it is natural and ask me if my children and grandchild also have red hair, if I’m part Irish, etc. 😆 So when it became time to re-order my color, I saw that most of the gels were out of stock online, and Sally wasn’t offering them at all. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but after some research, I realized that they discontinued the gel and made a new cream formula. Hesitantly, I ordered my usual color because there was a sale. I don’t like change and I agree; why fix stuff when it is not broken? Consistency: The new consistency is very thick, kind of like mashed potatoes or diaper rash cream, it is difficult to squeeze out of the tube, so make sure that the little plastic seal is completely removed. Shade: It recommends in the instructions to go a little lighter as the color may be more intense. They also say that the new mixture may be a different color. That’s where the “trust the process” comes in. The light golden blonde before was truly light yellow, and the Titian red blonde looked Auburn. Now the golden blonde is almost a pumpkin color and the Titan red blonde is just slightly darker than the blonde. Mixture: Normally, I do 3 parts blonde to 1 part red, so 75% to 25%. I increased the blonde and decreased the red to about 83% and 17%. I have kitchen scales on which I weigh it in grams. Before, I did 36g blonde and 12g red; this time I did 40g blonde and 8g red. I left the color on for 30 minutes. Once I mixed the developer with it, the thick consistency disappeared and it became more liquidy, and I felt like it was runnier than before when I had the gel, which is kind of odd. I did find the chunks in it that some people describe, but just keep mixing and if you find a chunk while applying the color, just spread it out. Smell: The new scent is much more pleasant. I noticed right away that the ammonia smell was not nearly as strong. Results: The resulting color is the same one that I always achieve, but because I decreased the red and increased the blonde, it is going a little bit more into the gold blonde. I will go back to my regular mixture ratio next time. Coverage: I had about 1 inch of visibly dark gray roots at the top of my head and lots of gray on my temples. All of it was taken care of with this new color cream. Conclusion: This cream is just as good as the gelbbThe consistency is a bit thicker, I don’t care for that too much, but as far as the resulting color, I am 100% satisfied.

DO NOT BUY or you'll be sorry you did
Wella has changed their formula and they never should have put this new product on the market. It does not mix with the developer and stays chunky. I used 5A with 20 developer. It stains your skin almost immediately. Rubbing alchol won't remove it from skin. And after processing for 45 minutes and rinising in cold water I looked in the mirror and it did not cover my gray roots. I will never buy again. It doesn't deserve even one star. Shame on you Wella for trying to sell this garbage.
