Very Disappointed – TWO Defective Units

I’ve now bought two of these humidifiers, and both have been defective. The first one I returned because it didn’t blow any humidified air at all. The second one is even worse—it makes a loud, high-pitched whining noise immediately when the tank is placed, and I’ve tried refilling, adjusting placement, and using distilled water, but the noise continues. It’s extremely frustrating to buy a brand-new humidifier and have it not work properly. I expected reliability from Vicks, but this model seems prone to defects.

Absolute garbage

Absolutely unbelievable how quickly this thing started making loud noises... I was about to return it but then it stopped. Of course it stopped long enough for it to be too late to return it. Now it's screaming again. I went with Vicks instead of the "off" brand bc I thought it would be a reliable machine. Appalling the way these companies treat us.

Messy but works so far

very messy to refill. not looking forward to doing it daily. i spilled some water when putting liqiud filled top onto base. enough i felt i needed to put a towel under it. i do feel a bit less of a dry cough going though after one night of use…hope continues to improve as this is my purpose for buying. there is also an unanticipated dampness on my rug and floor near product.

Do not buy.

Worked great for less than 3 months, even with keeping up with the cleaning, it decided to kick the bucket. Not amused for a 50 dollar humidifier and of course it died just past the return date.
