Tres pintores europeos narran la historia. Jacques Le Moyne, cartógrafo y pintor de Diepa; François Dubois, pintor de Amiens, y Théodore de Bry, grabador de Lieja, se enfrentan por distintos caminos a la fascinación del mundo recién descubierto, pero también al exterminio y el despojo que, en nombre de la religión, se llevan a cabo a ambos lados del Atlántico. Son, cada uno a su manera, testigos, beneficiarios y víctimas de las grandezas e iniquidades de su tiempo, y de ello dan cuenta con las herramientas de su oficio.

About the Author

Pablo Montoya es escritor y profesor de Literatura de la Universidad de Antioquia. Ha publicado libros de cuentos, ensayos y novelas. Entre estas últimas destacan La sed del ojo (2004), Lejos de Roma (2008) y Los derrotados (2012). En 1999 el Centro Nacional del Libro de Francia le otorgó una beca para autores extranjeros por su obra Viajeros. El libro Habitantes ganó en 2000 el premio Autores Antioqueños. Réquiem por un fantasma fue premiado por la Alcaldía de Medellín en 2005. En 2007 ganó la beca de creación de cuento de la Alcaldía de Medellín con El beso de la noche, y un año después obtuvo una beca de investigación otorgada por el Ministerio de Cultura. Tríptico de la infamia, su última novela, ha recibido el Premio Internacional de Novela Rómulo Gallegos 2015. Sus traducciones de escritores franceses y africanos, así como sus ensayos sobre música, literatura y pintura, han aparecido en diferentes revistas y periódicos de América Latina y Europa.
