A: Hello, The lumbar support is designed to self inflate on its own when you open the valve. Close the valve when the lumbar support has inflated to the desired level. For a firmer feel, reopen the valve and gently blow into it. Close valve at the desired level of firmness.

When you open the valve, it allows the foam to expand, causing air to get sucked into the pillow. Closing the valve once the pillow is inflated makes for a thicker/firmer lumbar support. This design is easily adjustable and portable.
