Works great but just not for very long!

I bought this heating pad back in May for my chronic back pain. It’s now October and I went to turn it on and I get the dreaded flashing red light. I tried all the “fixes” of unplugging the cord from the unit and wall for 20 minutes, laying it out flat, making sure the cord is in great shape, and plugging everything back up into a wall socket. It still isn’t working. I am really disappointed. I bought the Sunbeam and spent a little more money after having a cheaper heating pad go out on me in 6 months but this one didn’t last as long as the cheaper one.

Heating pad wetproof PN126985-1 does not heat

It stopped heating completely even though there does not seem to be any problems with cord and temperature light comes on. It crumpled very easily. Had to be flattened out a lot. Calling the Sunbeam hotline was useless. The controller part did not function well from beginning to end!

Waste of money

Total waste of money. I had to use without cover to even feel warmth. Then it only stayed warm for 15 mins. And that was on highest setting.

Best little Heating Pad ever

I hunted and hunted for this heating pad. I had one , but my darling offspring didn’t put it away and the mice decided to use it. So many companies have a 2 hour shut off. This one does not. You have to use your common sense and remember to shut it off. If you’re going to use it for an extended period of time, you have to turn it down. I luv luv luv this heating pad. I did a number on my back. I can use this heating pad as long as I want. I can sleep on it and get up in the morning feeling a bit better then when I turned in. Thank you so very much for believing that there are still people out there with a brain in their heads that their parents taught them how to use it. God Bless You

Great for the price!

Love this heating pad so much that I bought it again after it bit the dust a few years ago. It gets very hot but I have strong cramps, so I love that it gets the temperature it does.

I love this Heating pad. I've used the one that I have now for five plus years and it is never given me any trouble and works perfectly. I'm not sure why the bad reviews unless they have changed them somehow. This is the model that I have used since I was a child. I think I've had three. The when I have currently the cover has been washed so many times that it's faded but I can still read the directions / warnings on the cover. I will probably buy another one soon because I have to wrestle it away from my elderly chihuahua!

I like it!

I bought this back in December & it works great! I actually use it on my feet, since my wood floors are icy cold in the winter. Haven't had any issues so far; my only complaint is that I wish the cover was a little thicker. That's all.

Old fan new disappointments

I have always been a fan. Sunbeam has kept me warm over the years. I have a heating pad since I was a little kid and it finally went out. It was old school. I bought another one thinking it would last and it lasted all of 90 days!!!!! So disappointed. I wonder if they use cheaper products now???

Disappointing

I bought this to help with pain after my surgery. I made the mistake of not testing it prior to the surgery. It never worked.

Be very careful!!

I’ve had this a year or 2 now. Since day one the heat has been inconsistent. Hot one min and barely on the next. We’ll just recently it’s gotten so hot where the cord goes I got he pad that it’s burnt me 3 separate time. Like blister type burns. I quit using it now because something’s obviously very wrong. These pads have never lasted at all. I’ll be searching for a new brand to buy.

Dangerous -- do not buy

This pad has had very little use and was stored carefully in a closet. When I recently tried to use it, the indicator light blinked on and off and the pad didn't warm consistently. I opened the control panel to discover sparking and a burned area where the power supply attached to the circuit board controlling the unit. This posed a very serious fire exposure if used near flammable products.

Okay so I’ve read a lot of negative reviews and honestly what are you people doing to your poor heating pad?? I’ve had zero problems with mine, it works wonderfully every time and I use it quite frequently. Sunbeam makes good products and providing you’re intelligent enough to use it properly it will last you and function as it’s designed to. Honestly people will whine about anything to just get attention. Stop slandering good products because you can’t operate a simple device.

Been around for decades.

Sunbeam has been a trusted devices in our home for years and years. I still turn to these for heating type products. I’m hoping my loyalty isn’t misplaced. More and more, I find trusted brands of 100 years ago are not what they used to be. Kinda like clothes, made with cheaper and cheaper fabrics and labor that has little knowledge or devotion to quality control. But I hope Sunbeam is still the same in terms of quality. I’m getting ready to buy a new heating pad so we shall see. To the folks being sarcastic who thinks unplugging it from the wall and the device for 3-5 minutes is some kinda of joke. Many of the electronic digital devices of today may run off tiny computer controllers that if having issues may need to be reset. Think of your smart phones, tablets, even TVs that a simple off for a few minutes clears up mixed signals in the computers and electronic boards. The usual way to reset the heating pad, or at least Sunbeam’s per their instructions, is to stop all electrical current to the device and the wall for at least 3 minutes and preferably 5 minutes. If that doesn’t take care of it, or you have to frequently do this, call them and let them make good on the item. Something else to consider — Some people plug them into extension cords or other such devices, some directly to the wall. I don’t think extension cords are the most safe solution because you aren’t able to tell the quality of the electrical connections in the cord, nor when they start to get old. Many people have extension cords that have been in use for decades. And most people try to buy the cheapest extension cord they can. Not a good decision in my opinion - may not be tested as well, may be cheaply made, may have poorly made connections, etc. at least buy one from a reputable company, that’s been around for a long time, and ones with good warranties and customer service. A bad one can at the least, ruin your device plugged into it, and at the worst — burn your house down. Buy from reputable, long lasting companies know for making durable products and pay attention to their instruction booklets or go on line and look them up if you can’t find. Replace as recommended. Call the company before trashing them — it could be your own stupidity as to why it isn’t working. Too many people say I have been using a heating pad since the 50’s thus even though now many run off little digital computer controllers with lots more functions — they honestly believer they are still the same product of 72 years ago. Many, if not most, products created many decades ago have been improved considerably even if you can’t see it.

Older model controller smells hot

If you leave the pad plugged in when not in use the controller can heat up and smell hot the next time you turn it on. There is no information on where to send these for repair or any alternative to putting them in the garbage. Not a good choice if you are concerned about recycling or repairing appliances.

Sparks flew

Very disappointed that sparks flew in my home when I plugged in this heating pad. This thing is a safety hazard and should be avoided.

Auto Shut-off Does Not Work

I bought this a couple days ago and after multiple tests I found out it does not auto shut-off. Inaccurate description and a safety hazard.

Melted

I used as directed for about 3 or 4 and when I pulled it out again to use it it was crumpled in the corner and seemed to be melted together. I tried to uncrumple it and now there’s a small hole in it. Very disappointed.

Not good

I bought this like a month ago and it helps for about 20 minutes then it shuts off by itself. It says it has auto shut off in 2 hours for peace of mind but not true. Heating is good and it does help but not enough time.
