submitted byOXO Customer Service - 5 years agoBrand expertA: I would never use a burr grinder for spices, nuts or anything but coffee. The burrs will get clogged with all the oils from the nuts and the bits from the seeds. Stick with a blade grinder for spices.

A: Hi Dan! Thanks for your question. The hopper for our Conical Burr Grinder can hold up to 3/4 lb of coffee beans. There is not a maximum daily output or maximum duty cycle for the grinder. If you are grinding a very large batch of coffee, you may need to clean out the grinder between batches to prevent clogging. This grinder is recommended for household use only.

A: Hi! Thanks for your question. Our Conical Burr Coffee Grinder has a removable upper burr ring that is able to be taken out for cleaning or to be replaced. The lower burr on the grinder should not be removed.

A: Hello! Unfortunately, we do not have a set time frame on how long coffee beans will stay fresh inside of the hopper on our Conical Burr Grinder. There are several factors that can affect the length of freshness for the coffee beans.

Q: Can someone tell me how many seconds I need to grind beans for 12 cups of coffee at setting 9? We drink 12 cups of coffee and I only got six cups out of 20 seconds at setting 8. The settings only go up to 30 seconds.

A: Thanks for your question! The number of seconds needed for 12 cups can depend on several factors including how strong you like your coffee, type of roast, etc. If 20 seconds provided half the amount that you need, we would recommend doubling the amount of time. Since the machine only goes up to 30 seconds, you can one 30 second cycle and one 10 second cycle to get the amount needed. I hope this information is helpful!

A: Hello! Our Conical Burr Grinder has a stainless steel grounds container to help reduce static. It is also recommended to use a coffee scoop to scoop out the right amount of grounds for your brew.

Doesn’t produce grind for French Roast Coffee. Disappointed!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this grinder to make French Roast Coffee. However, coarse grinding at 15 does not produce a consistent course grind, and the grind doesn’t look anywhere near to what I see should be a coarse grind on YouTube coffee sites. Thus, I have given up trying to make French Roast Coffee. And I am so disappointed. Is there anything we can do to make this right? As a customer I sure hope so.

Jams up weeklu at the 5 month mark
If I could give a negative star rating I would. I never review items, but if I can save another person from waking up in the morning to deal with this disappointment called a burr coffee grinder, than I will review. Purchased at the end of June 2025 and now end of Nov 2025 this thing increasingly clogs up and needs to be cleaned out. Which is not a user friendly process. So BEFORE I have had any coffee, I must disassemble this thing which includes removing all beans from the cone, removing the bean holder and an inside gasket thing and then using a knife and brush to get the jammed up ground code out of all crevices and then trying to flip the thing over to get jammed ground coffee out of the part that dumps into the ground coffee holder, which makes a horrible mess even if you do it over the sink. Ground coffee gets everywhere. The frequency has increased to like once a week and I feel the burn out of the motor is coming since you can’t tell it has jammed until you go to get your ground coffee and there is nothing in the holder. Five months. I have my cuisanart for 5 years. Boo

Clogs constantly and is incredibly messy. Coffee grounds are all over the counter with every use, and if you need to unclog it - and you will - there's no way to do it without creating a huge mess. Dealt with it for months and now it's too late to return.

I recognize that dimensions were available on the website, but it is physically bigger than I expected. it to be have been using hand powered grinders for years and this device is three or four time bigger than my hand grinders.

Terrible Product. Do not recommend.
This coffee grinder was a total waste of money. It jams constantly. I don't grind coffee often so in the 6 months I've owned it I've only used it one a month. All 6 times have been a hassle, where the grinder gets clogged, nothing comes out, so it must be disassembled and cleaned multiple times each grinding seasion. So much coffee and time is wasted in attempt to simply grind one bag of coffee beans. I called the manufacturer and they were kind enough to send a new burr, but that's not the issue. Clearly there's a design flaw.

The worst product you could ever buy . I received this grinder from my son for Christmas. It worked for 5 months and then jammed . I cleaned it regularly and still does not work . Called OXO/sent a video/ still won't replace junk!

Sleek design, consistent grinds
I've been using the Oxo Brew Grinder, and overall it does a solid job. The burrs grind evenly, and the coffee tastes noticeably better compared to blade grinders I've tried in the past. It's also not overly loud, which is nice for early mornings. The design feels sturdy and looks clean on the counter, and the hopper holds plenty of beans for a few days of brewing. That being said, I don't love the time-based grind function. I can never seem to dial in the exact amount I want, so I usually end up stopping it early or running it twice. It works, but it feels like I'm guessing every time. A weight-based system would have been a lot more precise. The grind settings themselves are great, though-I can get a consistent coarse grind for my French press or finer for pour-over without much trouble. Cleanup is simple too, which is a bonus. Overall, it's a reliable grinder that makes good coffee, but the timer feature holds it back from being perfect. If you don't mind measuring or experimenting a little, it's definitely a worthwhile upgrade for better tasting coffe.

Clogs Immediately
First off, thank you Target for allowing me to return this flawed product. This product does not work with as advertised with a dark roast bean that has any natural oil. The device design and space usage for grounds to dispense is flawed. Problems: 1) it immediately clogs and won't dispense after using with a small amount of beans 2) trying to access blockage to unclog requires removing the container to hold the grounds making mess when you try and unclog 3) the design does not allow any space internally for coffee ground to not build up and clog and/or easy remove to prevent clogs in the first place. 4) For the price, it should just work and if any for of cleaning is required, it should come with tools required to easily maintain it. Finally, my pernsonal impression, which could be wrong, was that of the power and durability of the engine for the grinder was borderline under powered for durability and a long life.

Consistent, good price point for coffee lovers
I love my grinder! I use it for french press and chemex brews so I don’t know how it would perform for espresso grind, but I find it so easy and convenient to use. I love that it has a cannister. I’ve used other grinders and they can be quite messy. My sister has the same and loves it. Great price too.
