Never write reviews but this product didn’t even hold 24hours through the wash out. Followed all directions. Just stuck to my scalp not my hair. Will not purchase again.

Subtle
Working in a professional environment, I can't have the alt hair I'd really like. I have natural level 4-6 light brown with highlights to level 8-9, this color is very subtle. Enough to satisfy my emo heart and corporate enough to fly under the radar. My only gripe is that it doesn't cover my grays.

Didn't work at all
I have gray hair and have used the purple for brown hair for years. I was looking for a more subtle look, this seemed like the ticket. I tried it for the recommended 15 minutes, nothing. The next time I tried it I left it on for an hour, nothing. Not even the tiniest hint of lavender. Bummed out.

Zero pigment after 45 mins. Maybe only for fully bleached ha
Have used many different Overtone colors with great success for 5 years and the Smokey purple is the first that left hair color totally unchanged. The sample image Overtone posted on what to expect on medium blonde hair made me think I would get a subtle grayish purple color. After leaving the hair fully saturated with the color for over 45 minutes, no purple color is visible. Attached is the "after" photo. No purple at all. Do not recommend. Big disappointment and waste of time & money. Perhaps Overtone should offer this only for bleached hair.

Not up to expectations
I have always bought pastel pink, and I've always been so happy with it after it fades a little and gets less chalky. People stop me in the street every single day to comment on my hair. I bought the smoky lavender because it looked to me like it would come out already a little bit faded like my pastel pink was But honestly Smoky lavender just makes my gray hair look gray with a minor lavender tint. I told a friend about it and she said Peggy smoky lavender is gray. Is there something I can do? Can I buy a deep lavender and add to it? What would you recommend? I bought four smoky lavenders I have three left.

Left my hair soft, but didn't leave any color
My first attempt I left it on for 15 minutes and it didn't leave any color. The 2nd time I left it on for 25, still no color. It did leave my hair very soft though. I have had great results with other colors in the past. I was disappointed this one didn't work out.

Works well keeps hair soft, but could be more toning
I love how this makes my hair feel without damage, however it added a hue to my hair as to fully toning, and I feel it could be more pigmented towards blue as to a warmer undertone, I use this as a post-bleach toner to avoid damage.

Didn't color at all
I found this product very easy to use as with the other colors I have purchased. I've always loved the way my hair came out, beautiful color and it covers the streaking in my hair, which is a light to medium brown with a little gray. This one didn't do anything, I left it on for 30 minutes too.. When I rinsed my hair it seemed like very little color came out, the water was pretty clear so I thought I'd see beautiful color. I normally use extreme purple and I was hoping for a very subtle light purple but it didn't look any different, no lavender at all. My scalp does feel wonderful and my hair hydrated and healthy ,which is what I love about your products.

Basically Just Pastel Silver
I have been a long time overtone user! I have a white bleached pixie cut and before the rebrand I would buy pastel silver and pastel purple to mix and get an icy lavender color for my hair. I was very excited to see they had created a smoky lavender color, the product photos showed exactly the color I used to get when mixed pastel silver and pastel purple. However when I applied the smoky lavender it turned out like the OG pastel silver. I was really disappointed that it wasn't more purple considering lavender is in the name. It definitely toned the brassiness but it looks silver. I'm going to go back to getting the other two colors and mixing them.

I was really excited about trying this - I’ve heard such great things about overtone over the years and seeing it in target felt like a great opportunity to test it out. Right off the bat, it smelled VERY strongly of tea tree oil/menthol. Not necessarily a positive or negative, just something to note (it did start stinging after a while though). I left it in for 45m-1hr, and the results were…unnoticeable. For reference with no picture, my roots are near blonde and my lengths are black. The end goal was to even the tone between the two without having to re-dye again, but sadly what I got was blonde roots with a Smurf blue stained scalp. To its credit, it may have toned the blonde just a smidge as someone did tell me it looked grayer than usual. Yay. I really hope I just got a defective product, but unfortunately I won’t be finding out as I’m not spending another $15 to see.

Terrible Color Deposit
Didn't have any color change to my salt and pepper hair. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

The most fun highlight option!
I loved playing with color and did highlights with the whole Smokys collection! I have dark brown hair so the impact was subtle but fun to play around with. For the most saturated color I would suggest getting the bleach first and then letting the dye sit for 20 mins.

SO EASY TO USE!
Loved my experience with this product I used it with the other Smokys to create a head full of fun highlights. The 4.5 tube was super easy to use and the 8 oz was fun to pair with the brush and bowl for a professional at home experience. I have dark brown hair so the results were subtle which is what I was going for if you want more vibrant color add the bleach for the perfect pair!

Does not work as advertised on light brown/blonde.
Disappointed- I lost money on this one. I trusted the color chart; Normally, it is very accurate. I have light blonde highlights over copper-brown natural color. This product turned my highlights a green color, without any purple tone at all. It is hard to see the green tone in the photo.

Not great
The color is nice but did not last long at all. Very disappointing. Not to mention I paid for expedited shipping and it was just regular shipping. No rush. Waste of money on both product and shipping . Will not purchase this color again and will never pay for expedited shipping.

Not for dark blonde
I have dark blonde hair similar to the listing photo so I thought this would work. I even left it in for 30 mins from the time I finished applying product and you can barely see the color.

Such a dreamy color!
I used this on my light-medium blonde hair and I'm so happy with how it turned out! It's the perfect cool-toned lavender shade with a soft, dusty undertone. It also toned my golden blonde pieces as it faded, which I loved.
