Impractical and causes a mess
If I could give this zero stars, I would. It is impossible to get the litter from the box into the genie without dropping it. It fills up quickly, and is large. We will be tossing ours.

Bad design
We have had the older design of this for over 5 years and it still works but we wanted to try this new design. It broke and won’t close within a week of getting it. The handle to carry it is awkwardly low so it’s hard to carry around. The lid also comes off too easily and we miss the spring loaded closing mechanism. We will be sticking to the older design.

Just got it
I have the genie diaper pail and figured I would get the litter genie design. Hopefully it holds up as good as my diaper pail. This design was easy to set up and easy to use. I also use regular bags when I forget to order bags.

Improved design
I use litter genie to keep the stink encased. The steel bin got my interest after I found less stink from a steel litter box versus plastic. The old plastic model I had more stinky stuff cling to the rim and the design of the bag placement in this new design gets rid of some of that mess.

Time Will Tell
I’m glad that the footprint of this model is the same as my old litter genie. Glad that they made the top portion easier to lift when you need to change the cartridge. I’m not loving that the handle on the back is lower than in my previous model. It looks like the scoop holder attaches better, however I never use the plastic scoop anyway because I prefer a more substantial scoop.
