Wanted to love it
I wanted to love this product since the ingredients are great, however it didn’t work for my skin! It clogged my pores and made me break out. It had great consistency though, just not effective on my skin.

Definitely recommend!!
I love this stuff! I have used many retinals, retinoids, and other products but adapalene has really made a difference in my skin. It has helped with preventing new breakouts and skin texture for me. A little goes a long way so one tube lasts a good while.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Adapalene Gel 0.1% – My Ex
This adapalene gel is definitely a slow-and-steady kind of product, but it works. The texture is lightweight and spreads easily, and after a few weeks, I noticed smoother skin and fewer clogged pores. It’s great for refining texture and keeping breakouts under control. But—expect purging and dryness at first. It’s normal, but using a gentle cleanser and moisturizer is a must. Once your skin adjusts, it becomes a reliable, effective part of a routine. Overall: a strong beginner-friendly retinoid that delivers clearer, smoother skin with consistent use.

Seeing results instantly
I’ve only been using for a few weeks but I’ve already seen real changes and improvements in my skin texture. I recently incorporated adapalene to help prevent future breakouts, and bring everything to the surface. I’ve been using vanicream gentle facial cleanser and daily facial moisturizer regularly and prior to adapalene, I had consistently been using the zero pore toner pads. I think because I had been using actives for a while, I had already tackled a large portion of my acne and gotten my skin adjusted to more rigorous skincare. Therefore, I haven’t experienced awful purging since introducing lrp into my skincare, just very minimal bumps here and there. I have however seen drastic improvement in my skin texture, much more smooth, less comedones, even skin tone, less drastic breakouts, and faster healing. I use this product with the sandwich method, which maybe isn’t the correct way to use but it’s worked well for me and kept irritation at bay (after cleansing, I apply a thin layer of moisturizer, then apply pea-sized amount of adapalene gel, and a final layer of moisturizer). If anything changes I’ll update my review, but so far I’m very pleased with results.

Didn’t see much improvement — not worth the high p
have combination, oily-prone skin and unfortunately this product didn’t work well for me. I used the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Adapalene Gel 0.1% for several weeks but didn’t notice any significant improvement in my acne. The gel texture absorbs quickly, but it can feel a bit drying on certain areas of my face. For the high price, I expected better results, so I don’t think it’s the right fit for my skin type.

Transformed my skin (and confidence)
This product was absolutely transformative for my skin (and my confidence). I apply a pea sized amount every night (a little goes a long way), and I apply it after a thin layer of a light moisturizer as my skin is prone to irritation. The product itself feels light and water based. It has no scent. Packaging is meh, looks very pharmaceutical, not aesthetic, but with how well it works I couldn’t care less!!

Went up in proce $10 sonce July? Everwhere.?
Went up in price almost $10 since I last bought it in July. Not just Target. It was already more than I felt comfortable spending. Better off getting the prescription version through my virtual Doc. I’m so sick of paying way more than the value of a product.

Best product ever
Holy Grail! Literally the best product ever and I have used this since I was a teen! It got rid of my acne without drying my skin. I don’t think it has strong scent which I love the most.

Dried out my skin
I wanted to love this product so much because of all the reviews I’ve read and seen. Sadly it dried out my skin really bad… and I broke out way more. Maybe my skin was purging and then after it would’ve worked? Idk, didn’t see the hype.

Dont use hoping it will replace the spot treatmet
Tried this after I ran out of the BP Spot treatment that was discontinued hoping it would help my skin remain clear... in 2 days my face has completely broken out with acne I haven't experienced in YEARS.

Dermatologist-level results at home
This product truly lives up to the hype. Within a few weeks, my breakouts noticeably reduced, and my skin started to look smoother and more even. It’s gentle enough to use regularly but still delivers powerful results. I love that it’s oil-free, fragrance-free, and backed by dermatologists. A staple in my skincare routine—and the first retinoid that hasn’t irritated my skin.

Great spot treatment
A very good treatment. It's quite light, doesn't leave the skin feeling heavy, and isn't greasy because it's a gel. The packaging is practical for using the entire product. I really like it and have seen results. It clears up my pimples in no time.

Where has this been all my life?!
I have been dealing with acne in various forms for last 34+ years of my life. At 47, and a working professional still dealing with very obstinant acne in the T-zone region, I FINALLY reached a breaking point of wanting to try something beyond the standard benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid products. I found Effaclar adapalene gel and what a difference it has made in just 2 months. The region above my eyebrows and temples always had acne blemishes and now I can barely find a plugged pore! Stunned. My wife asked me recently why I was so invested into resolving my acne as she simply didn't even notice it. But I did, and it has frustrated me for years. Now I feel more confident, heck even photogenic. If you are dealing with acne, so yourself a favor and try the Effaclar adapalene gel! Note: Retinol purge is real. In my case it was minor, but noticeable. But once I broke though to the other side, I couldn't be happier. 1 tube has lasted be 2+ months (treating my whole face/neck region). Additionally, retinol burn or damage to the skin barrier is also real. Take care to treat and repair your face with other products as necessary.

God awful replacement
Terrible replacement for the dual action acne treatment. Can’t use this because I’m already using prescription retinoid cream. This is useless to me. Also I have a sibling who can’t use adapalene. Bad choice. Wish you hadn’t gone the way other brands are.

Possible counterfeit item
This is my second time getting this product. The packaging is different and does not match the previous product. Not sure if there was a package change or I got a counterfeit product. I have looked all over the internet including the La Roche Posay website to see if the product packaging has changed and it doesn’t look like it has. I think this may have been a counterfeit product sold by Target.

Not really a spot treatment as per dermatologist
This was prescribed for my mom(I am her caregiver), who had two pimples around her eye. I really can't rate the product because it was only used a couple of times. The pimples went away on their own. I am disappointed that my mother's dermatologist promoted this product as it seems that she could have prescribed a less expensive over the counter product. Now we have a full tube that we have no use for. Can it be used to treat crow's feet around the eyes?

La Roche-Posay
La Roche-Posay is one of my all time favorite skincare brands. I use majority of their line so I was very excited to try the Effaclar Adapalene Gel Topical. The tube is huge and you only need a pea sized amount. This is the gentlest retinoid I’ve found yet. It doesn’t cause me any peeling or flaking on my face and doesn’t make my acne worse. It makes my overall skin texture smoother and glowy. It absorbs really well and I layer a thick moisturizer on top of it. I love this product and will be using every night now!

Beware!
I have pretty good skin but have been getting some breakouts over the past few months. I used this as directed and got a horrible patchy flaky rash all over my face after the third use :/ it hurts like crazy and even putting a non medicated unscented moisturizer on my face burns. Just awful!

Probably the best thing I’ve done for my skin
I have always struggled with sebaceous filament on the upper part of my face above my cheeks and my chin just below my lips, since I’ve used this over the last few months I have noticed a difference in that. My skin always feels 10x better when I use this as well as looking a little brighter. This will continue to be a staple in my routine!
