Q: Does anyone use this in bread machine? Is it worth it? I had one years and years ago and was gonna make an investment and a new machine.

  • A: Yes, you can use in your bread machine as I have used this mix for years in my machine. Check your settings to ensure the capacity and mix time aligns with the box instructions. My dough has always turned out great and the rolls I create from this are my family’s favorite!

This mix is perfect for quick bread making. The packet takes most of the work out of the making. The bread comes out fresh with a beautiful sourdough flavor and texture.

Made 2 out of 12 boxes

Still hot, so have yet to taste, but I have to say that following the directions left me with flat bread. I brought 12 boxes so stay tuned. If possible I will try to update this review. Next I will try this in a bread pan because the forming of wet dough is just beyond me. The pictures show two flat "loaves"...the one on the left I added a bit less water and the one on the right I used the directions as is but then found it way too wet and I added a bit of spelt flour just to simply handle it. Even though the directions said don't knead/fold...I will try the fold method next time so as to increase its strength to form in a better shape like a bread pan. ttyl

Not a good packaged mix.

Cannot get it to rise. Instructions need to be changed to "pound" down the dough or "roll it out" - I don't know. I will not be buying this package bread mix again. Krusteaz is usually good. I am perplexed.

Yeast not good.

Taste n appearance very good. I am disappointed because yeast provide not good. I proof yeast n it not foam or bubble like it should. I replace yeast that has not expired. Then follow the directions and resulted in good loaf.

Flat small lump of dough

Never rose after sitting for 2 plus hrs. Ended up tossing in the garbage. We were really looking forward to it too. Ugh...will not buy again.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! I tried my first package of this today, I’ll ALWAYS buy this now! ABSOLUTELY THE BEST ! Very easy, effortless directions! Even though I have a bread machine, I elected to bake it in the oven. My husband said it IS the best sourdough bread he’s ever had! Wonderful crispy crust, delicious, soft flavorful inside! Terrible taste, no rise

Just not a good product. We use Krusteaz for almost all of our baking. This one is an easy recipe but just comes out bad.

Beautiful loaf from bread machine

Followed the directions at the bottom of the back of the box for use in a bread machine. I live in Denver and the directions said to add some extra water when baking at higher elevations, but I did not. Added water first, then mix, then made sure the mix covered the water, so it would not come in immediate contact with yeast. Then, i sprinkled the yeast packet evenly over the top of the mix. Pressed the "Basic" cycle (because the box recommends at least a 2 hour cycle) with a Medium crust. And let it go. 3 hours later - perfection!

Mix is defective

Have been buying Krusteaz sourdough bread mix for years, about 10 per year. Starting spring of 2022 the mixes have been defective. There is not enough flour for the water amount, it ends up the consistency of a cake mix. You can pour it into a pan. There is no way to form a loaf. This is my 5th package since May, all have failed but one. I even had my husband measure the water twice with me, both double checking the amount. Lost me as a customer :-(

This is simple recipe that is delicious. I see in comments dough didn't form and flat... perhaps to much water and flower added. If you follow directions on box, it will turn out perfect and YUMMY. Sourdough bread isnt like a loaf of bread. Comes out like a bread they bring you in France!
