Seems like these things have a motor or motor driver issue on the circuit board. Already replaced it twice. Both of them were basically out of box failures. barely even taxing the motor, it just loses power and dies. Several other reviews like this so clearly there's a quality problem. Kind of ironic to have a industrial cast iron chassis and then use such cheap components inside. c'mon KitchenAid!

Absolutely not
Nope!!! bought this in November, used it once for brownies. On the second use, mixing flour and water, it shut off. Completely stopped working, no issues with our electricity, never forced the motor. this isn't my first mixer so I don't know what's wrong. So surprised the quality of this EXPENSIVE product has decreased so much. Also, the bowl?!?

Not for bread bakers or any kind of dense dough
If you're looking to mix anything other than cookie dough, don't waste your money. I purchased this model thinking that it would be suitable for more dense dough, as it is advertised as such. When I had attempted to make bagel dough, it couldn't even kneed for 8 minutes before over heating - the unit was not able to re-start for over 30mins, which is problematic when your baking things like bread. Kitchen Aid is not the quality that it used to be.

Worth it
This was a gift from my mother somewhere around 2000, maybe 1999, and it still runs like a champ. LOVE my Kitchen Aid, whenever I get a larger bowl, I'll never give away my Pro 5. We use this constantly. It made chocolate chip cookies at least once a week when my kids were in school, banana bread, yeast breads, whipped cream, meringues, whatever you want. We also love the meat grinder and sausage making attachments, and will eventually add the pasta maker to our collection. This is a heirloom appliance, however silly that might sound, but truly, my stand mixer will probably be left to our foodie daughter in the will. Highly recommend.

Assembly was easy-just open the box and it’s all together. The mixer isn’t loud and doesn’t vibrate. Next Christmas you can expect I’ll be making cookies from scratch.

Love the machine! Attachments not so much.
I like this machine. Its my first kitchen aid mixer and she is a beauty. The issue I have is with the attachments. Its advertised as dishwasher safe but for the longevity of the items, I suggest hand washing them. The coating on top of the paddle attachement can not withstand the dishwasher and semi-regular use. If not for this, I would have given it 5 stars for sure. I would still recommned this product but you do need to be delicate when it comes to cleaning attachments. If you check out my pics below, you will see the difference in the paddle attachment (placed in a whirlpool dishwasher once, top rack on normal wash) vs the dough hook (handwashed only). I have had the machine for about a year and I use it maybe twice every other month or so. Keep them away from the dishwasher and you should be good to go!

I purchased this mixer less than a year and a half ago haven’t used it that often but when I put it on high speed, it goes for about 15 seconds and then dies- don’t waste your money

I still have a kitchen aid mixer over 25 years and that still works. The new one I bought failed after a year and now its out of warranty. THIS PRODUCT IS CHEAP GRABAGE! Not like they used to make them.

Similar to all of the other recent reviews, our mixer stopped working the second time it was used. Maybe 10 minutes total... DO NOT PURCHASE. It is criminal that these are still on the shelves at Target. Really unethical...

This model has a defective motor. Purchased twice both quit working after minutes of use. Did some research and this is a very common issue with 500 ac motor. So disappointed

Defective mixer
Mixer stopped working after a few uses. Exchanged for another one that stopped working after ONE use. Don’t buy this. Came to write a review and saw all similar reviews. Very disappointed that the manufacturer is still selling mixers they know are defective.
