A: Thanks for your question. To reduce electronic waste, the JBL Grip and other newer JBL products don't include a charging cable. It's compatible with any standard USB-C cable you likely already have.

A: Thanks for your question. Yes, you can turn off our JBL Grip’s lighting either through the JBL Portable app or by pressing the light button on the speaker until it cycles through the modes and switches off.

Our family loves this speaker!
I love this portable speaker! It's so practical for on the go and you can link it to others to provide a surround sound! It's genius. I've tested it with some big bass drum and bass on full volume and there's no distortion at all! Small enough to fit in my everyday bag, packs a powerful punch in sound quality and has a generous amount of bass. We've taken ours to the park, on camping trips, picnics, and the beach. My littlest child (2yr old) loves the light on it too! The sound can be customised via the JBL app as can the light settings. It links to our devices so simply, everything about it is exactly what you want and need for a quick setup on the go. We've got a number of portable speakers, but this one is our favourite!

Amazing sound
The JBL Grip is a delightfully compact Bluetooth speaker that delivers surprisingly bold sound. With a 16 W output and AI Sound Boost, it optimises audio in real-time to maintain clarity even at high volumes.  It offers up to 14 hours of playback (12 hours + 2 hours with Playtime Boost), so it’s great for long sessions.  Built tough, it’s IP68-rated for waterproofing, dust protection, and can withstand drops from up to 1 metre.  On top of that, the rear ambient lighting adds flair and is customisable via the JBL Portable app.  All told, the Grip is a stylish, durable, and fun speaker that’s perfect for everyday use — whether you’re out on adventures or relaxing at home.

Great Speaker!
Bought about a month ago using a McDonald’s monopoly sticker, one of the best speakers I’ve ever owned. Also, editing the sound with the app makes it 10x better. And no I haven’t been paid to write this review.

Wow what speaker
I got this JBL flip and I wasn’t sure what to expect being such a small speaker. I’m absolutely amazed at the amount of sound that this little thing emits. Very good bass and clarity on music. I haven’t had this at full volume as it is way too loud. I love that it’s water resistant and dust proof as this allows me to use it in all elements including at work. I would definitely recommend this speaker to anyone who wants to blast out tunes but not wanting to carry lumpy speakers around. The only downside I’ve found with this speaker is the light on the back is a tad bit limited but not a deal breaker as it’s only on the back but all in all im really impressed with it and would rate this speaker very highly. There is also a loop on the back that you can hang the speaker off any small hook

Battery lacking
It’s a great speaker “packs a punch” as they say, I’m docking two stars simply because it overheats and dies within two hours if I blast it, what’s the point of having a speaker you cant turn up all the way.

Great speaker for on the go
Let’s get straight to it. What a lovely bit of kit. The form factor is great. Fits great in the hand and has a handy loop to hook on to things. Is a decent weight without being too heavy. And in terms of sound performance, very impressed. The speaker came with some power so a quick press of the power button turned it on with a satisfying punchy welcome noise which bode well. Typical Bluetooth connection by holding the Bluetooth button down and pairing as you’d do with any other Bluetooth device. So far linked to my phone and laptop and is really impressive for size. I’ve only got a few basic Sonos speakers around the house and have already used this when doing laundry, in the bathroom and then also taken to work. The mobility of the device being the obvious selling point. It’s a shame it doesn’t come with any sort of charger or even a USB-C cable but most people will no doubt already have one lying around. Recommended.

Unrivalled portable speaker
I bought this speaker 2 weeks ago and it's been in use every day since, battery life is very impressive I haven't had to charge it since the initial first charge. The sound and clarity is better than I've ever heard from such a small speaker.

Fantastic little thing!
I was super happy when I got to try this speaker out; we are a JBL family and we love our earbuds. High quality electricals without the extortionate price tag, and this is no different. I was immediately impressed with how simple this was to set up as it connected quickly straight from the box. The accompanying app is great for customizing your device with personalized sound output preference and changing the light dynamics but the speaker works just fine without it. It has some incredible volume for such a portable little thing, and the sleek design fits nicely in our home in just about any setting. The only downside was that it doesn't come with a USB C charging cable, but most homes have several these days so I get the idea behind not including unnecessary items, and id you don't have one they're easy enough to pick one up. If you're in the market for a new portable speaker I highly recommend this little power house and I can't wait to use it on my travels next summer!

The JBL Grip is a surprisingly punchy little portable speaker. It’s compact, easy to carry, and perfect for taking your music anywhere—picnics, small parties, or even just chilling in your room. Sound For such a small speaker, the sound is impressive. The bass is solid, mids are clear, and it gets loud enough to fill a small space without distortion. Don’t expect Boombox-level volume, but for its size, it really delivers. Battery Battery life is decent—you can get a few hours of playback without constantly recharging. Perfect for short outings or casual use. Build & Design It’s reasonable size wise, lightweight, and has a rugged feel. Some versions are water-resistant, so you don’t have to worry about splashes at the pool or in the kitchen. Pros Medium size and portable Surprisingly good sound for its size Durable and some are water-resistant Easy to use Cons Not super loud for big parties Bass won’t blow you away Limited features Final Thoughts If you want a Backpack friendly speaker that still packs a punch and is easy to take anywhere, the JBL Grip is a solid choice. Perfect flor family use
We bought the JBL Grip speaker for our downstairs space and it has quickly become one of our favourite gadgets in the house. From the start it was incredibly easy to set up. It connected straight to our phones without any problems and within minutes we were playing our favourite playlists in the kitchen and living area. The controls are simple and clear, so everyone in the family can use it without needing any instructions. The sound quality is outstanding. Music comes through crystal clear, whether it is soft background tunes while we cook or something livelier when we are tidying up or having friends over. The volume goes surprisingly high for such a compact speaker and the sound fills the room beautifully without ever becoming distorted. The battery life has been brilliant too. We often use it throughout the day and only need to charge it every few days, which makes it really convenient. It also looks smart and blends in nicely with the rest of the room. Overall, the JBL Grip has been an excellent addition to our home. It is reliable, easy to use, sounds amazing and lasts for ages between charges. We genuinely love it and would recommend it to any family looking for a quality speaker for everyday use.

Brilliant sound
Absolutely brilliant speaker , exceeded all expectations the sound quality is amazing perfect for my needs , really easy to set up and use I have been using it for a few weeks now and can hands down say it’s one of the best speakers I’ve ever used , from the sound quality down the to the battery life , I also love how easy and portable it is for on the go , easy to just pop into a bag and take with you for your music needs when on the go , so let me wrap this up overall brilliant speaker really happy with the sound and the features would highly reccomend.

Has a boom just not the 14hr power
I purchased this product as it looked like everything i was looking for. Received the item and the packaging didn't let down the hype. The product does have a good boom from it. Was loving the product for the first hour until the battery was dead. Charged for the required time. Have the music bouncing for another hour and its dead again. Guess the 14 hour life time isnt true sadly

Battery lasted 1 1/2 hrs at high volume.
Battery life is disappointing. I use 2 of them for my dance classes and need them to be at a high volume (from other online reviews I guess it drains the battery if the volume is high) and I am not able to get through one night of classes which is about 3-4 hours. They died after an hour and a half after being fully charged. I would not have bought them if I would have known that prior.

Thanks for your feedback on our JBL Grip. The published up-to-playtime is the maximum battery time you will get when listening at background levels. As you turn up the volume, the playtime will be reduced, much like a phone battery when you brighten the screen. The same goes for source material. Music with more bass will also reduce playtime. It is possible that the battery is working correctly, but depletes more quickly when the volume is very loud and/or the bass has been boosted. Please try to charge the battery to 100% and then listen to music without any bass boosted, and at a very low volume. If the battery lasts close to the published up-to-playtime, the battery is working fine. However, if you get less than 90% of the published spec, this likely means that the battery is losing its capacity. Please contact us for further assistance.

Great little speaker
I love my JBL Grip speaker! The sound is super clear with great bass for such a small size. It’s tough, easy to carry around, and perfect for trips or workouts. The battery lasts all day, so I never worry about it dying mid-song. Definitely worth it!
