Q: Can this work on 5G internet
A: Hello and thank you for asking. The HP Smart Tank 5101 printer supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only (Wi-Fi 4). It does not support using either the 5GHz Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 5 and up) or the 5G cellular radio band for an internet connection.

Q: Is this a printer for someone who doesn't print much or will the ink dry up?

Any ink jet printer, including the HP Smart Tank 5101, can suffer from dry out because ink is a liquid, and it will evaporate. To prevent this, just print something, even if it is just 1 page, every week or two. If you need to go longer than that, shut the printer down using the power switch on the printer first, before using a power strip or pulling the plug. That can keep ink from drying out on the printheads for up to 3 months.
