Feeling Duped.
I was looking for an alarm clock and white noise machine. I paid the initial price for the Hatch machine. You cannot use the machine without the app. So you are basically paying the price for the app. Come to find out you also need a subscription to access most of their “unwind” noises. I wish I knew before I purchased it that I would need an app and a continued subscription to access it. Considering returning it.

The fact that you have to be a subscriber in order to even start using the Restore 3 is terrible. Sure, you can cancel the subscription but it really is pretty deceptive. I can't imagine paying this much for a clock and then needing a monthly subscription. Borderline scam.

I’ve been using my hatch for the past 2 weeks and I am obsessed. I love the unwind routine and being able to change it up. The sound machine is great as well to help me fall asleep. I have noticed a difference in my sleep quality and my morning mood since using it. Very happy!!

Trial requirement is awful and predatory
You shouldn’t need to subscribe to a trial in order to use your product. This was a gift for my daughter and I was dumbfounded that I couldn’t use the product that I already purchased until I entered my credit card information. This is clearly a ploy to have people mistakenly auto-renew and make more money. It’s predatory behavior. If this wasn’t a gift I would probably return this product honestly.

Mixed Feelings
On the positive side, going to sleep with the Hatch is a dream. I’m really enjoying exploring all the wind-down options, there are so many to choose from. The alarm sounds are all really nice too. Now when it comes time to wake up… I do wish there was an option to have the time always display. On mine, a tap on the side like the video shows doesn’t work, I have to tilt the clock and bump it against the table for the time to display. I’ve also struggled with the “big button”—it’s extremely easy to turn off your alarm when you mean to just snooze!

I was very excited to gift the Hatch for the holidays, but after setting up the device, I was extremely disappointed. The setup process was convoluted and did not allow for simple or intuitive selection of preferences. Additionally, the content itself was underwhelming and, in my experience, had the opposite effect of being stress-relieving. I truly love the idea behind this product—but the overall experience fell short of expectations. Unfortunately, I will be returning it.

The basic interface is incredibly hard to use and not user friendly at all. They make it all but impossible to weed through the "free" content, trying to get me to upgrade to pay a monthly fee to find anything that works that is included. And the content that is included is not good at all. And even the previews of the content that is available for upgrade, I'm not impressed with either. This was such an expensive alarm clock as it was. I loved the old hatch restore that I had years ago, which sadly broke. That was much easier to use and I loved the content that was included in the older Restore version. I wish I could take this purchase back. Sadly, rather than relaxing me, this new Restore version just stresses me out.

I like the white noise and the light effects. I do not need a catalogue of sleep stories and meditations and all the other bells & whistles it offers. The Hatch+ app makes configuring a simple routine convoluted. I often spend more time on my phone in the evening trying to adjust the settings, when I got this thing in the first place to spend less time on my phone in bed. I wish there was a non-subscription option that would allow you to just use the white noise and the alarm (including the light).
