GE Appliances CAFE Specialty Grind and Brew Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This brewer makes pretty good tasting coffee, however, there are some drawbacks. 1) the cost of this brewer is quite expensive. 2) I have only been using this brewer once per day (and NOT every day) for the last 6 months, and despite the fact that I meticulously clean the carafe with EVERY use, it is stained inside and on the plastic lid. 3) It is extremely labor intensive to keep the coffee shute cleaned out so it will function properly. 4) Brewing even a single cup takes at least 4-5 minutes to completely finish and 5) There is no way to use a coffee "pod" with this brewer to simplify. For these reasons, I cannot with good conscience recommend purchasing this particular coffee brewer.... the time required to clean it daily is just more than expected.

I have used this coffee maker for approximately two years, and the water now leaks continuously from the base of the reservoir, emptying the entire tank onto the floor. I have replaced the filters and maintained the machine according to the instructions, but the issue persists. Given the purchase price, it is disappointing that the unit has developed this problem, and I am uncertain whether replacing the water reservoir would resolve it. At this point, I can only fill the reservoir immediately before starting the grinder to prevent further damage to my kitchen floor.

This coffee maker does everything I want it to do grinds the beans and can do single cup or carafe. Unfortunately due to a design flaw it leaks from the water carafe.

I am on my 3rd machine in a yr. Issues with the grinder, pot and basket closure.

The grinder broke after third use..does make great coffee

Great looking coffee maker, but does not keep coffee hot. There is no heating unit for the carafe. It is thermal but just doesn’t really keep the coffee temp I prefer. Now that my 1 yr warranty has just expired, the grinder doesn’t seem to be calibrating the correct amount of beans per what machine is set for cup wise.

The grinder gave me issues several times and now we've moved onto it randomly leaking all over my counter and floor. I've descaled it, reinstalled the reservoir bottom several times and I'm just done with it. Impossible to keep it clean as well. I spent so much on this and I'm surprised it hasn't performed better.

I purchased the white matte Thermal Carafe. It's a beautiful coffee maker and you will taste the quality of the coffee when brewed. I like that there is three types of brew strengths and you can change the grind size. However, the reason for my three star on this item review is due to a defect on the thermal carafe itself. There seems to be a leak internally where liquid gets inside the internal thermal wall where the lip of the pour and thermal pitcher meet. When I washed it I noticed there was soapy water when I placed the Carafe upside right to dry. I reached out to Carafe support and hope they can send me a new thermal carafe.

THE COFFEE IS GREAT, BUT CLEANING THE GRIND BASKET AFTER MAKING A POT IS A PAIN. IT GRINDS TOO MANY BEANS WHICH FILL UP ALONG THE FILTER AND INTO THE FILTER HOLDER THAT DOESN'T DETACH. POOR DESIGN FOR CLEANING.

Beautiful presentation and it seems to be working well so far. Experiencing learning curve to get the settings using different beans, suited to my taste. I haven’t gotten it right, yet. I haven’t experienced difficulty cleaning or leaking which are widely experienced by many according to the reviews I’ve read, but waiting to see how it works over time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this...but the reservoir leaks. It's not how I'm seating it in the base...it drips slowly even when I am filling it. If I leave water in the reservoir after brewing, it slowly leaks out...over the LCD screen, which apart film being annoying to clean up, can't be good for the electronics. I want to persevere because otherwise it's great. But....sigh

First one worked for just under a year and then started spitting water out of the back. Got it replaced in July under the warranty but the today, beginning of October, after making the first round of morning coffee it stopped pulling any water through. Called GE but there is nothing they can do to since it has been more than 1 year since the original one was purchased, even though the replacement they sent is 3 months old! Save your money and buy a cheaper coffee maker since you will likely be replacing this one.

Would also like to be able to adjust the amount of beans that are ground for a pot of coffee, this option is not available and I feel like it grinds more than as needed. Otherwise, the coffee taste great in the machine looks nice on the countertop and it’s easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I bought this to replace our DeLonghi after it stopped working. We wanted a coffee machine that would grind or use pre-ground coffee. We also wanted the ability to make different size cups. This does it all, and it makes a great cup of coffee. Looks great on the counter too. Glad we bought it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine makes a good cup of coffee, which is most important at the end of the day. And it's GORGEOUS on the countertop (albeit large). I also did not experience the leaking issue that others have experienced (I was careful not to over-tighten after inserting the filter and only add water from the top). I take 2 points off for: (1) the grounds get all over the place--under the basket, on the warming unit, on the countertop--after just one brew cycle, and it's annoying to clean; (2) for the price, I'd expect the coffee to stay hot longer and would expect some more brew functions.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love this coffee maker... The taste we get from freshly ground coffee is remarkably better than pre-ground coffee and now we can't go back! Also, this is truly the only nice looking modern coffee maker. It always draws attention of our house guest and they comment on how cool looking it is. The only downside is that to really keep this machine running well, you need to stick with maintaining it. Make sure to replace the water filter regularly, especially if you live in an area with hard water- otherwise the line will get build-up and stop working. We learned the hard way and just took the filter out after some time, but without the filter, the water line got clogged up and then we couldn't get the machine to work at all... So we're on our second machine. Also, you'll want to make sure to clean the bur grinder, because that too can get clogged and create issues with the machine operating. Otherwise, great taste, and great look... Nothing else quite like it, so this is our perfect choice!
