A great machine for luxurious freshly ground coffe
Grind and brew for morning coffee is such a wonderful luxury. I arrive in the kitchen for breakfast and a pot of great coffee is waiting for me This machine is great. Very easy to use. It’s helpful to use the included tool to do the easy job of cleaning the inner chute once in awhile to avoid clogs. I try to avoid oily looking coffee beans to keep the coffee grounds flowing freely

Disappointed
Becoming more and more disappointed with the Grind Control. Had my first one for 15 yrs and now this new generation is not working the best - It requires a lot of cleaning, I was told to not store water in the machine overnight, and to not use dark roasted beans. Now the machine's water sensor is no longer working and it is stuck on 9 cups. :( I really wish I could get a refund at this point.

I need a grinder bade replacement and a new lid for the carafe Help!
The machine is awesome, but the grind chute clogs so often (after 4 or 5 times). Maybe a sharper blade would help? Nothing worse than hearing the coffee machine in the morning is jamming because the chute does not clean itself out easily. Also need a replacement lid or replace carafe - please!

C-MAKER with attention to detail design = happy customer :)
- too mainy pro's to list( to keep make this a short read) - Received with airmiles ( was initially hesitant with promotional gifts being low quality ) -Use 300 days/year, Serial# of 2046 = manf. 46 week of 2000 and still working great ! - yes maintenance required on anything with moving parts ( we strip grinder parts down and vaccum and brush every 3 months aprox.) - de-scale with vinager and distilled water when prompted on screen( no need to add more minerals with tap water) Con's...by design - for all coffee makers using moulded parts ( not just Breville machines) - our recent awarness of plastics harmfull for us, would like to see less plastics coming in contact hot liquids by use... - not easy to pour all coffee out of insulated pot, until you find technique of, rocking back and forth when pouring last amount out upside down from pot. pro's...by design - great use of proper materials and design for this hard working machine. - gaskets used to get coffee grinds from grind blades to basket, with deflector to spread out grinds evenly - meandering escape path built in for soaking coffee in basket incase it flows to slow, preventing overfliowing basket - removable catch tray for easy cleaning - operator messages on screen when machine will not start , to help with making sure are parts are in right position and locked in - even notices if user incorrectly sellects too much grind for given amount of water, no wastefull $ brews - auditory and visual water overfill indicators, thinking of deaf users also ! As a former mech. engineer, It seems German Rockstar Engineer(s) were obsessed with function on build !

I got this in 2015 January. Just made a fresh pot this morning. I clean the hopper and grinder when I vacuum. Still working with original parts. No user errors here.

Surprised about other reviews
We've had our Grind Control for about 6 years now and are using it regularly at least twice a day, and at times four or even five times to accommodate a household of different schedules. Originally, after we learned how the machine operates, I bought two spare baskets, that way we always have a dry one available to ensure smooth operation. The periodical maintenance, when descaling reminder pops up, includes taking the machine apart and cleaning it throughout. Removing the beans, disassembling the grinder, removing the chute gate/disc, washing all removable parts and cleaning the rest thoroughly. Ideal? Of course not, a pain in the butt, but what would you expect? The work has to be done one way or another while convenience always balances out with the complexity of maintenance. It takes a single button press to take you to a pot of coffee from freshly ground beans in a matter of minutes. We always clean the machine after each run and the cleaning is easy. The maintenance too - not easy, but it keeps the machine clean and fresh. We have never head a coffee maker last this long because the simpler designs that do not require any maintenance eventually just get to nasty to look at them. Improvements. This is our first coffee maker with an insulated carafe. In order to get extra hot coffee the way we like it, we have a bit of a circus going with pre-warming the pot before brewing coffee. The bottom plate does warm up from the internal heat element adding a bit of heat into the pot after the coffee is ready, but in that sense, I wish there was another solution to this issue. We love to brew a pot right after the maintenance, when the grinds are all 100% fresh and the pot if super hot from the recent flush run. For maintenance reasons, I wish the not holding the chute disc was based on a standard fastener. A hex screw would work. Also some years ago I lost the spring washer that goes underneath. Everything works without it, but it feels like more grime collects under the disc without it. How do I get a replacement? Yes, I would buy another one, but not without checking for an improved version first. Again, I am surprised at the amount of pain expressed in the reviews here. I supposed this machine requires more maintenance than people are willing to perform and they don't understand the tradeoff I mentioned above.

Do Not Buy This Coffee Maker
I received The Grind Control as a gift in June and it has been nothing but problems. The hopper has been broken twice as I was trying to clean the grinder, it randomly makes 12 cups of hot water without grinding beans, though there are few grinds in the basket. Breville helpled the first time the hopper broke but has not been of further assistance even. Though the machine is still under warranty. They asked me to open a case through my review on the William Sonoma website and I still have not received an email or phone call regarding the open case. I am so mad and disappointed that I will never buy a Breville product again.

Great coffee!
I have had this coffee maker for a few weeks and must say a little hesitant as reviews seems a little mixed. The coffee taste is the best. I've had a few very high end coffee makers, and this by far makes a better rich and tasty cup of coffee. It seems a bit slow as it has to grind the beans, infuse, etc., but I put the beans and water in before bed and set the timer for a few minutes before I wake up, so not an issue really.

Excellent precision and quality coffee maker.
Love my Breville grind control, it makes me the most delicious coffee every morning without leaving my home. Perfect, temperature, perfect quantity, perfect grind. my only complaint is not really with the machine itself, but the design of the jar, it is really hard to get the last cups of coffee out of it due to its design. But even with that I love my Breville!

Not so much Grind Control
I love all my Breville products but this one seems to be falling short. I have calibrated over and over and I'm barely getting any coffee to grind. Typically about 8 to 10 grams per 8oz cup. It leaves my coffee very bitter. I've resorted to grinding separately. I wish there was more control over the grind time. A little misleading with the name.

Too much maintenance and inconsistent results
Received as a wedding gift. I loved the concept of being able to brew a single cup vs a cafe of coffee. Sadly this product’s quality did not live up to my expectations. Liquid brewed varied every day despite not changing the brew size - one day it’d brew full 10oz mug, next morning it’d fill halfway in the same sized mug. Cleaning maintenance way was too much work. Despite cleaning the metal disk where the ground coffee comes out into the filter, hard buildup accumulated and almost impossible to remove/clean. Finally quality of coffee was okay, but can never drink the last 2-3 sips because of sediment at bottom of mug.

Not worth the money…
It initially worked well (first year or so). Despite regular maintenance it now leaks or is unable to complete the brewing process. Disappointing given the cost - would’ve expected it to have a longer life.

The worst
I saved up and bought what I thought was a well made coffee maker that would make my life easier in the morning and I could enjoy a yummy cup of coffee…… not so much. I literally hate it. The machine worked for the first two months and then for the past several years every day or every other day the grinder clogs up and won’t grind the beans. If you walk away and don’t catch it then you will pour your first cup of just slightly dirty water not coffee. If you catch it then you have to stop it, open up the basket turn the top grinder to unlock, and reach in with a brush or butter knife or vacuum it out then start the process over again. I literally have a vacuum in my kitchen just to clean out the coffee maker every few days. I am so angry that I spent my hard earned money on this! I actually left a review for the second time in my life so I might save someone else from wasting their time and money

Not true to size. Lots of cleaning
They need to update this design so bad. In theory it is great but in practicality not so much. So much to clean to keep it happy, also if you have 18" cabinets, the knob will not fit under them! They need to lower the height of the knob to fit under cabinet spaces. Breaks if you don't constantly clean it.
