Q: Is this effective on removing cigarette smoke on a couch?

A: Obviously shampooing it would help and maybe consider using a cup or two of that Urine Odor destroyer liquid in your machine, but If you really want to solve that problem and can put that couch in a sealed small room or unused bathroom, etc I would DEFINITELY recommend getting a cheap $100 or so (they may be less nowadays) Ozone machine and be sure to seal off room its in and towels under door crack if needed and a small fan blowing on ozone machine to circulate and in 24 hrs it'll be like new.

Disappointed
This machine leaks all over every time I use it, very difficult to empty all water out of the machine and hose after use prior to putting back in storage. I would not recommend. Makes more work for me. I will most likely throw mine away. Owned for four months.

Buy a Bundle but don't get the Bundle
I bought the Little Green HydroSteam Pet Portable Carpet Cleaner during the holidays and there were a ton of combo deals if you buy the cleaner you would also get a regular steamer. That did not come with the carpet cleaner for my purchase despite my clicking on that option. I have used the carpet cleaner already and it works as expected. I am pleased with it just not with the the bundle purchase that did not include the bundled equipment

Van Mom Must Have
I’ve owned this Bissell HydroSteam for a couple of weeks. I’ve used it 4 times already! The carpet clean is good. I use the carpet clean/steam combo and stains have gotten out well. I haven’t had to carpet clean much yet, but the hydrosteam is AMAZING! Mom of a 4yr old boy who can’t hold his bladder in the car. The hydro steam gets hot enough, not boiling, but hot enough to get up car seat gunk and make my rubber mats look brand new. I also used the hydro steam for cleaning my bathroom. I used a microfiber cloth to dry the counters etc. afterwards. My husband was so impressed with the turnout. I will post an updated review with video the next time I use it.

Good machine but have patience for the task
Stain cleaning is not for the weak, but it works! I had a Gatorade stain in a medium to light color rug that is a medium semi plush height. There are high gloss hard wood floors underneath. The stain was about the size of an 8 1/4” round plate and used the entire sample bottle of product that was sent. The longer you can let the product soak into the stain the better but I was worried because of the hardwood floors, so that made it a little difficult. I had to scrub a bit with the scrubber brush disconnected from the device so as not to suction the product too fast. The machine does the job, but I had to figure it out and problem solve. I wish the library of sample videos was a bit more expansive to show various types of materials being cleaned realistically. I want to know how much labor and time is expected for the job based on the machine I have.

Does a decent job but one big design flaw
Does a reasonable job of cleaning but if feels like it didn’t get a lot of testing before release. There are improvements over older models but plenty of things that could be better. I like that everything is easily cleanable, including the hose self-cleaning feature; big improvement over an upright model I have, and the vacuum seems adequately powerful. There are a bunch of areas where a little more thought would have made a big difference, as well as one major design flaw: - the main wand is awkward to hold without pressing the spray button, making dry passes often turn wet accidentally - the spray pattern is narrower than the vacuum nozzle, leaving carpets stripy unless you overlap passes a lot - the steam is fairly inconsistent, sometimes very strong, other times none at all - the hose is stiff and the wand only swivels about 45 degrees (which I assume is a limitation of having vacuum and solution channels) which makes holding the wand flat awkward - the power cord should be about 10cm shorter or longer - winding it around the posts relatively snugly leaves the plug right at one post, not clippable to the cord - there aren't enough storage points for all the attachments The biggest oversight is in the vacuum exhaust. The exhaust is on the flat bottom of the unit. This is fine on hard floors but when set on anything more than a very low carpet the exhaust is blocked, potentially reducing the machine’s effectiveness and causing overheating.

I Am Beyond Thrilled
I just got this product and mostly to clean my area rug and spot messes on the floor. What is great about it? I have been on hand and knees with scrub brush, Used the clean and vacs, rented rug cleaners and never has my area rug gotten clean. Heavy traffic areas are just as dirty and dingy. I finally threw up my hands and got this little portable steam cleaner. My area rug looks fantastic. Colors are alive. Light color are not dingy but, bright. It's so wonderful to see this after the steaming and cleaning. And it did not take that long. It was alot fun emptying the black water knowing it is not in my carpet now. Not so great - It would be nice to have a long hard tube you can use to do work standing up - like cleaning a large area. You ask who is the primary mess maker - it's equal parts husband, and pets. And I contribute especially during gardening season

A must have
I have two rowdy kids and a dog who always are guaranteed to leave a mess or stain. This thing is a beast! It’s the magic eraser of portable carpet cleaners. The 3 options makes it very versatile. However, my go to is the steam/solution setting. Knockout just about any stain I’m trying to get rid of. I use it on my carpet, beds, couches, chairs, just about everything that is upholstered. All I can say is whoever the engineer is that came up with this design. Give that person a raise, because this made my life way easier.

We live with 2 feline rescues, and one has Mega Colon. She tends to vomit often. I kept telling myself to buy one, just never really could find the extra $$$.
