Got a 1-2 bar improvement with the booster in my car

Its marginally better but just a bit. It should have been made with type C power plug and had a 12v bullet just in case. But none of my vehicles have a good connection via 12v port. The interface is wonky and my phone is now loose instead of in a holder. All these things are places I see as low hanging fruit with regard to fixes.

I've used Wilson/weBoost products at work & play since 2012 and have recommended/gifted em more than once. I do appreciate the Magsafe wireless charging though a decent magsafe phone case is more reliable than the included metal rings. The Dash could also benefit from some mounting accessories like cupholder, windshield or vent clip... thankfully I've made dew with phone mount from auto parts store. I've also upgraded my comms setup with a solid mount OTR/Overland antenna.

The product exceeded my expectations, but I have two issues that contribute to its four-star rating. One of these issues was a dealbreaker that led me to return the product. Before purchasing the product, I was concerned that the cables would be too short for a third-row SUV. This turned out to be an issue, and while I could have found a workaround or extended the cable, it wasn’t ideal. The other issue is that this class of products doesn’t boost what isn't there, which was the main reason for returning the device.

I picked up the WeBoost Dash recently, and while it looks good and the idea is solid, my experience showed a few issues you should know about before buying. Setting It Up Installing the Dash is pretty easy, but you really need to follow the instructions. If anything is off, you’ll notice signal problems. The WeBoost app has some helpful videos, which makes setup easier. The printed guide is 20 pages long, and the spec sheet is two full-size pages. It’s thorough, but a simpler, more user-friendly package would have been nice. The Magnetic Ring If you have an older iPhone like mine that doesn’t have MagSafe, this is where things get tricky. The instructions for gluing the magnetic ring to your phone are vague, and WeBoost support wasn’t able to offer a working solution. The ring goes around the Apple logo, and even on non-magnetic phones you need to make sure the Dash’s alignment lines are at the bottom of your phone. The adhesive is a problem. It doesn’t stick well to glass, and heat from the phone and the Dash while charging can make it come loose. In my testing, it often detached completely. Tip: If your phone isn’t magnetic, use a phone case with a metal ring built in instead of the adhesive ring. It’s way more stable and stops you from having to re-glue it constantly. The Guide and Specs The PDF guide is easy enough to follow, with step-by-step instructions for mounting, wiring, and setup. You might still have to figure out a few things, like positioning a non-magnetic phone, but it’s not confusing. The spec sheet gives the technical details, like signal gain and supported frequency bands. If you care about the numbers, it’s there, but you don’t have to be a tech expert to use the Dash. Which Networks It Works With The Dash works with all major carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, U.S. Cellular, and Dish. It also claims to boost data speeds up to 5G. The catch is that it only works on certain frequency bands, so in some areas, like mine, you won’t be able to use 5G. My local towers use Band 66, which the Dash doesn’t support, so I couldn’t test 5G at all. Basically, it will improve your signal if your carrier uses the bands it supports, but don’t expect it to work everywhere. Signal Performance The signal boost is noticeable, but don’t expect miracles. It didn’t help me get through dead zones. It didn’t keep calls going in areas where I normally lose service. It didn’t expand coverage beyond the areas I already get signal. It improves things a bit, but it’s not going to fix serious signal problems. In the Car Mounting the Dash is straightforward. The magnetic mount and vehicle adapter hold it securely, and it doesn’t look out of place in the car. Just make sure you follow the instructions. Misplacing the antenna, misaligning your phone, or skipping steps can make the signal worse. Final Thoughts The WeBoost Dash looks good and is easy to install, but the adhesive ring is unreliable, the band support is limited, and the real-world signal boost is underwhelming. If you have a non-MagSafe phone or rely on unsupported bands, this is even more of an issue. It might help in areas with just a little weak signal, but don’t expect it to get you through dead zones or dramatically improve call reliability.
