It does its job but you are getting what you pay for. The product page says the top is particle board, but what I did not realize was that it is hollow particle board - which makes all interactions with the table loud. There is also a metallic ringing from the base audible when you do anything more intensive than a firm tap. Knowing this, I might suggest taking a layer of the thin foam wrapping that the table top pieces come in and using that as a damper between the table top and base when you are assembling it, and then cutting away the excess when done. Maybe that would be enough to stop the ringing. The design of the base and the feel of the components worried me when I was assembling it, but I admit that it feels sturdy enough when assembled and upright. For my unit at least, the three top pieces have about a 1mm gap between them and maybe .5mm of height difference at the ends. Otherwise they do come together cleanly and seem flat. The screw holes, screws, and allen wrenches are cheap fit together crudely; assembly is painful and takes longer than it should.
