A long-time member and past co-chair of the International Crisis Group, he's a self-taught expert in global finance and geopolitics. His passions range from history (the rise and fall of empires) to food (he makes one of the world's finest olive oils) to quantum physics (he co-founded the Quantum Gravity Institute in Vancouver). A father of three, he's committed to using his resources to improve the world he'll one day leave to his children.
