Q: Is there a way to change the direction of the air flow? And does the styrofoam inside the deflector stay there? All of the air blows way to the right when exiting the unit.

  • A: This model does not have adjustable louvers to redirect the air flow. The unit orientation would need to be manually moved to adjust he air flow. The Styrofoam inside the unit can not be removed; it is used to insulate the cool air return. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support

    Good Engineering product!

    This BTU8000 works better than expected as family members wanted a higher BTU capacity. Noise is bearable and not loud since unit is still new. Hope it can help beating the soaring heat in the room especially at afternoon sun facing. Overall, it’s a good engineering product.

    This unit is loud and doesn't stay fully connected to the window after manually adjusting it and securing it. It does cool the room down but I regret not getting a regular window unit. I will probably return it.

    Find something better

    The air from the unit is ice cold however, the window kit is crap. I plan on returning solely for that reason. The air blowing out of the window was so hot that the outtake cap on the hose started reshaping itself and no longer had a tight fit in the strip of plastic that sits in the window frame.

    Unhappy consumer

    We just purchased the portable AC unit an hour ago, rushed home from Target on Beach Blvd to set it up at home. When opening the box it was discovered that the box had previously been opened. Not only was the box stapled, the bottom of the box was taped. This is when we noticed the window sliding kit was not in the box. B

    Love the multiple settings

I’m a hot sleeper so Ive been using the fan setting in my bedroom, and my utility bill has seriously gone down because I don’t have to turn the whole ac on.

It also has an application for your phone so that’s nice. I would say it’s not loud. It was able to cool my room in like 10 minutes and you’re able to set it so we would turn off on its own so it’s energy efficient

    Perfect for a small room

    It’s the perfect size for a bedroom or small living room. It takes a few hours to cool down a hot room but that is expected. We bought this for our bedroom that was once an attic and has minimum insulation and it does the trick. Definitely recommend.

    A great investment for Summer!

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This TCL Portable Air Conditioner has been an absolute miracle for my family and I. Recently, we have had some pretty hot days and also some really crazy bad storms. We lost power for over 24 hours here in Virginia. Our temperatures have been around 94 degrees each day. It has been miserably hot. Luckily we were able to take our gas generator and use this Portable Air Conditioner to help cool things down and even we're able to help cool down. It was so easy to hook up and came with easy to understand directions. I love that it even has a remote control! It is very quiet and cools the room fast. We have a camper that does not have the best airflow and are planning on bringing this with us. Thank you Influenster and TCL for the opportunity to try this out.

    Cool relaxing Sleep

Just adding this sweet baby to our room makes a whole world of difference. The remote control is very easy to navigate. We love it! It makes our sleep at night much more relaxing.

    So far this is working well to cool our bedroom. We have central air but the upstairs needs a little extra TLC when it comes to cooling. I do wish you could angle or position the vent without rotating the entire unit. But that’s a very minor inconvenience. So far so good.

    Portable Air Conditioner

    The air conditioner works great. However, when I took the plastic strips off the box it was open. Looks like it was returned. The hose and window cover were damaged. I managed to jimmy rig it. The hose doesn’t stay in the outtake slot. I had to tape it. Going to contact the company to see if I can get a replacement hose and window attachment.

    Good option to have

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great. The only reason I rated 4 instead of 5 is because of the hose/connection kit. A lot of hot air leaks out around the connection areas, both the plastic that attaches to the unit itself and the hose that connects to that piece as well as at the top. You must use the foam included to help get a good seal.

The size is good, not space consuming,my son is even taller than this aircon. The package was good with instruction but the only downside is how you install the vent on the window, although it would seal the window, I’m just afraid the panel would not hold the window. Very convenient since you can access it with your phone , you can modify and change the coldness of the room.
