Description

Sourced from purified white kidney beans, this extract helps inhibit amylase, the enzyme that is necessary to break down carbohydrates, making it a potent "carb blocker." When one tablet of C-120X is taken with a meal, up to 75 grams of carbohydrates will remain undigested and pass through the GI tract much like fiber. The 2 mg Confusion
Swanson finally made a change to the label on this product, but I'm not sure everybody understands yet. Other products contain White Kidney Bean powder, and White Kidney Beans contain phaseolamin (widely known by a trademarked brand Phase 2) which is a proteinaceous inhibitor of alpha-amylase. The gotcha is that you need a lot of White Kidney Bean powder to get a little bit of phaseolamin. Swanson is using a purification process to isolate the phaseolamin, winding up with approximately 2 mg after standardizing to 6% of 33.3 mg extract from a much larger amount of White Kidney Bean. I used several brands of White Kidney Bean capsules containing hundreds of mg of powder, which were annoying and ineffective. I had to take 2 big capsules 30 minutes before meals. Now, I just take 1 small tablet with my meals (sometimes immediately after). I've been using this product for 3 years now. It didn't help much with losing weight, but it has definitely been the #1 factor helping me keep my weight under control after I got down to my target range.
