Book Synopsis

The definitive guide to the oeuvre of the Pritzker Prize-winning Nordic architect

Sverre Fehn (1924-2009) first attracted critical acclaim with his Norwegian Pavilion at the 1958 Brussels World's Fair and his Nordic Pavilion at the 1962 Venice Biennale. He produced more than 100 buildings across Norway, becoming the byword for the country's vernacular architecture and teaching the next generation as a professor at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. Fehn received the 1997 Pritzker Prize for his "fascinating and exciting combination of modern forms tempered by the Scandinavian tradition." This comprehensive monograph presents 80 of his built and unbuilt projects, offering a more nuanced survey of his career, replete with blueprints, drawings and archival photographs.
