One of many steps necessary to 'control' mosquitos

We use Dunks, Torpedos and Spartan-Mosquito-Eradicators, plus topical repellents, environmental controls, and, thanks to Mother Nature, barn swallows...it takes at least 2 methods, plus removing standing water sources (under your control) that mosquitos use for breeding, ideally within a mile or so, to achieve much. Dunks are visible in troughs/ponds, in contrast, Torpedos sink and are harder to monitor but less likely to be played with by livestock, racoons, etc. No matter what, re-apply AS THE LABEL SPECIFIES and use three (3) methods of "integrated pest management" for mosquitos and any other pests and disease vectors -- exclusion/environmental controls, repellents, and IGR. Consult your veterinarian about arthropod-borne disease prevention and vaccines (E.g., West Nile, Equine Encephalitis, etc.). These, alone, simply cannot do the job!

Work great!

Easy to use, can just toss in the tank. Work well. Since they float, to prevent the horses from playing with it we placed it under a brick in the tank. Still works well. Have also used these in standing water after heavy rain.

Dunkin’ Donuts

So far so good on these mosquito donuts. There doesn’t seem to be any larvae growing in the tanks so far. The only thing I notice though is that the donuts disappear and I don’t know what is happening to them. I know they dissolve, but I’ve seen them dissolve and the bits are still in the tubs. But I dropped one in the other day and noticed a few days later it was completely gone. Wondering if it got eaten?

They do work

I placed half of one dunk in my 100 gallon stock tank and it does work as advertised. I have the luxury of keeping the outer edge of my tank outside of my fence, so was able to tie the dunk to a string and attach it to a stake - keeps it out of reach of the horse, but then I can easily retrieve it and remove it if l feel it doesn't need to be in there or while cleaning, etc.

They are ok

I'm a bit disappointed. I bought 2 packs, thinking I would use them all summer & share a couple. The amount to put in is based on bucket/tank size so I had to break them in halves & quarters. This would be great for large stock tanks and ponds. And, they float. That's not good when the animals think its something to eat. So I sunk a few in empty butter containers with holes in the lid - even though I don't know if they only work if they are on the surface. They are holding up & I do see some particles floating in the water. No mosquitos :)

Works well

The disks float and can be broken into smaller sections for smaller water sources. Some horses may play with it if bored.

Lifesaver!

Mosquitos and their larvae can be a nasty find when going to clean out a water trough or bucket. No water seems to be safe from these pesky little insects. A friend of mine recommended Mosquito Dunks and now I am also recommending it! I saw a significant drop in the amount of mosquitos near the water and on the property in general. They really worked! It's also great to be able to use a product that is not toxic to the humans or animals. They're also a great price!

Very effective

I just started using the dunks for the first time. I got a bit of a late start on using them as we were seeing mosquitos starting to buzz around. However I used a combo of the dunks and quick kill and it is under control. I live next to a canal, and have cattle and horses in a large area. I see a big difference already.

Helpful in the battle against mosquitos

I've used the mosquito dunks in my 100 gallon stock tank for about a month and they apper to be working. No mosquito larvae in the tank for now - I'll be interested to evaluate performance over time. One thing if you have inquisitive/mischievous animals, the dunks do float, so be prepared for a few good rounds of "bobbing for dunks" until everybody gets used to them. (The dunks are fun for the whole family though - the horses AND the barn cats thought it was great fun to try to catch the dunks, and we laughed our butts off watching!)

Great for ponds!

I've used these for several years in our small pond. Between the barn swallows and these dunks we have been able to minimize our mosquito population.

Not sure yet...

I bought these dunks to throw into standing water pools near our manure pile to avoid misquitos... the pools of water fill up after it rains and usually stick around for a while. When I bought them I thought they would sink, however they are very light weight and float instead... the dunk got stuck in the side of the manure although misquitos haven't bothered me yet... maybe just to early in the season to tell

Practical, cheap mosquito killers!

Mosquito Dunks saved my summer! I put them in an old water trough that always fills up with rainwater and in some old feed tubs that I filled with water and set down near the manure pile. Voila! Mosquitoes gone! My horses and my neighbors thanked me. These dunks are safe to put in animals' drinking water, so I don't worry if I see the barn cat or the neighbor's dog drinking the water.
