  • A: A clear liquid and an orange wax that is absolutely not made of LAVA. In good condition overall box wise, but keep in mind the overall length includes the not LAVA globe and the base and tip.

Q: Did anyone else’s box, and instructions, come with the word “lava” blocked out in permanent marker? It’s so bizarre.

  • A: Yes, because technically Schylling owns the "lava" brand name, so they can't call it that. It seems to have been an oversite before the manufacturers run, so they simply blacked it out.

Turned out fine

My box also came open with the word lava marked out so naturally I was worried this was a return. Opened it up to find all the pieces there and works perfectly. I love it and brings back nostalgia.

Received my order and the box was torn up with words sharpied out. Plugged it in and it did not work. Pretty sure it was a return that no one paid attention to. I made sure to tell the employee that it was damaged so hopefully they didn't put it back on the floor.

First lava lamp in years and am in love with it. The reviews stating boxes open is due to them having to use a sharpie to mark out the word “lava”, guessing for copyright issues. The color combo of liquid/wax in this lamp is perfect. Writing this review because I came to see if our store had a second one to get but already sold out, saw the 1 star review about sharpie use and wanted to clarify.

Missing parts

Order came in target box noticed the package box inside had been opened and missing parts. Someone also used Sharpe and marketed words out all around box clearly a return and no one checked before sending it to a new customer.

Very fustrated

Pretty, worth the price

Very cool design and love the colors. This is my first lava lamp in 10+ years so I’m not too sure what’s typical, but sometimes the wax will get stuck at the top of the lamp and I have to shake the lamp slightly to knock it loose. In the photo attached you might be able to see the smaller dots/particles of wax that came loose after getting stuck at the top
