Convenient Size

It's a great size and I like the clear sides. The only thing I didn't care for is the lid. I prefer a lid that latches.

lids are not strong

I have been buying this size for years. I use it to store seasonal clothing. The older versions of this type of storage box are fantastic and still going strong. The lids of newer version can not handle another box if stacked on top. The lid will sink with the weight of the upper box and you will not have a nice seal.

Great space saver!

I love that you can see what’s inside them so there’s no hassle of having to label them or look through each box. It’s also nice how they stack so well on top of each other, it saves a lot of space! We have these in every room of our home and love the brand!

Disappointed!

I have used Sterilite storage boxes for 15+ years in my closets, garage, and vacation home. I'm disappointed that the quality over the years has taken a nose dive. I can never understand why manufacturers keep making their products cheaper and more disposable. Rather than having a storage box last a very long time, the new style is definitely a move in the wrong direction. The shape is more tapered with a smaller footprint at the bottom. The lids are incredibly weak and limits the stacking ability which is a main reason people buy these boxes. I'd love to know why Sterilite made a change for the worse. Wish they'd make a premium line. For people like myself that wants a quality item it's getting harder and harder to find. Ugh

Great totes, but can't stack too many on top

Lid crushed and is no longer usable. I had 3 other totes on top of it.

Hello, the 56 QT Storage Box is made of polypropylene, and designed for general household storage. Most household storage purposes do not require suggested weight limitations. Our products have not been specifically tested for various weight potential, and we suggest consumers not overload them or stack more than three high. This could cause distortion or eventual damage. When storing items away, use good judgment and be mindful of the weight in each storage box and place the heaviest on the bottom

Air tight

The 56 Qt. box is great for larger items, like patio furniture cushions, umbrellas, and gardening tools. boxes are durable and airtight, so your supplies will stay safe and dry all winter long.

These 56Qt Storage Boxes are just the right size!

These 56 Qt storage boxes are just the right size for me. Not too big and not too small. They are wonderful for storing winter clothing in my closet. I also use them to store my Christmas ornaments and lights. My yarn and completed yarn projects. They are not too heavy, and they stack so well. I have 4 of them in my SUV to hold my groceries and items, so they are contained, and I don't have to worry about items strewn all over the back of my SUV. They are sturdy and easy to use. I couldn't do without my Sterilite.

Perfect for storing beehive deep comb frames

This family of simple lidded boxes is great because of what it does not have: latches. Almost every other plastic storage bin I have has two latches, either part of the lid or of the box, and they are prone to falling off and getting lost. The lids on this series snap on by flexing the lid, so there is nothing to fall off. They are also inexpensive, and stack neatly, so I've standardized on the 1600 series. As a beekeeper, I fit the 1659 with a rectangular wooden frame and use them to store 9 frames of comb.

Tough and easy to use

This is my go-to storage for kids supplies / crafts / coloring books. See through, firm seal, easy to shove away, easy to wipe down. Only 4 stars because after a few years, the lid has warped. But it sees a lot of use from little hands who aren't that careful with it.

Dual use- as storage and as sneeze guard

We use our three Sterlite storage bins as sneeze guard when family comes over for dinner. Since we don’t live together, it is difficult to be sure that none of us is asymptomatic. We can chat at our back yard and enjoy family together. See sample set up. Here I have set up for 2 but we usually use 3 Sterlite bins.

poor quality for mushroom growing

I was thinking that the totes would be able to last several years for mushroom growing, but after winter they're falling apart very easily due to how brittle they are.

Thank you for reviewing the Sterilite 56 Qt Storage Box. Our storage boxes are meant for household use, and do not contain UV protection. With continued or prolonged exposure to the outside elements, the items may deteriorate over time.

I needed containers that were durable and clear to view items that I needed. I found these containers to meet my actual needed. Saves me time not to have to open each container to get the item or items I need. Thank you Sterlite for making my life so much easier.

Don’t waste your money or time

This CB product doesn’t withstand a move or normal storage needs. The lids crack and sides too. After 3-4 months went to pick up tubs most of them fell apart they were used to move and had tubs stored in front bedroom as I pack them in after four months when I went back in there to move them most of them just cracked lids were broken and it was in a controlled claimant would never purchase them again for that purpose. These are not cheap to lose so many of them and have to repack everything will never purchase again was told to go to homeowners insurance to recoup loss data not stand behind the product so sad.

Perfect size, Perfect quality, Perfect Product

I love to organize. My house is full of Sterlite products! I have approximately 30 of the 56 quart size containers because they are my favorite. They fit perfectly on shelves I purchased for my cellar storage area. I love the clear containers with the white lids. I store everything from linens, antique dishes, memorabilia, important paperwork, pictures, food (I have quite a supply of flour and sugar), bedding, craft supplies and more. I use a labeling machine to print labels to identify the contents.I don't have to worry about mildew or items getting wet because the bins keep my things safe. But, I don't stop at the 56 quart containers. The shoebox size containers are great for beads, utensils, camping supplies, maps, ribbon, etc. The drawers are great for plastic lids in the kitchen & the numerous cords I have. Although I have numerous Sterlite containers/drawers, I always need more. :)

Great Container, Terrible Lid

I purchased several 56 Qt storage containers for which I primarily use to store clothing. I move quite a bit, so they are better than moving boxes and the various color lids help to easily identify which container I need. My disappointment is that the lids are not as sturdy as the containers themselves, they lose their shape and they crack easily. Not only that, but replacement lids are unavailable. After not being able to find them in the stores, I checked the website with no success. I don't like the fact that you have to buy a whole new container just to get a new lid. Surely there has to be a better solution to getting replacement lids or better yet making a better quality like Hefty or Rubbermaid. I like the storage containers, but I don't like that replacement lids are not available.
