Avoid
The worst high-end earbuds in all categories. Randomly disconnects, ambient audio is poor, comfort is lacking, and controls are hit or miss.

The best in-ear buds by FAR!
Absolutely brilliant audio and noise cancelling, purchased these to replace some linkbuds that had dying batteries and was immediately impressed with the difference in quality. The tips are a nice firm foam based style which stay stuck inside your ears much better than the rubber ones. Build quality is excellent with really firm magnets in the case holding the earphones firmly inside. Charging for just 10 minutes easily gives you an hour or so listening. Very happy with purchase

the options of different head phone buds
I brought my Sony WF-1000MX5 not so long ago though they are small they it me ears very well. they work very well right out of the box. The only concern I have is that when you have to update the software, because I a have an older Sony phone the Sony Experia L3, I encounter some problems, all apart from that I would recommend the headphones to any body interested in them. I'II look forward to the upgrade as well.

The war buds feel very premium, are comfortable and sound great. That connect very quickly. A few minor issues I noticed. The case seems to absorb dirt, although a case protector has fixed that issue. The option to cut the music when speech is hear is in theory excellent, but when the music suddenly stops because you start singing to your favourite track, you will probably disable it like I did. Finally I found with noise cancellation, ever step I took seemed to echo through my ear canal. It is very disconcerting at first!

Apalling noise cancellation! Even with this on I can hear all outside noise, particularly in the gym. This in no way matches my older galaxy buds pro, or jabra active 8... !! !!

Great app interference
I bought this month everything is good except i feel less bass as compare to last model i am sony user since very long time it is a little disappointed

I thought this would be a good product from a rebuttable company. But the speaker went out in just over a year. Expensive and did not last long, do not buy

Quite disappointing
I am quite disappointed with the earbuds. I've read that they are an improvement to the previous ones, the best yet. Well, they aren't. I have the linkbuds S and they are better in every aspect: fitting, noise cancelling, comfort of using. I needed new earphones because after 2 years the battery in one of the earpieces died and didn't hold for more than 10 minutes. Which, I now read, is very common in Sony devices. The WF1000xm5 are big, bulky and they stick out of the ears a lot. They have these weird ear tips made of some kind of foam and they seem to fit, but don't feel secure in the ear. Also, an important thing for me, in the linkbuds I used the long press to change the volume, in the new ones I have to tap like crazy to change the volume and very often instead of that it changes song or stops the music etc. Nonsense. The long press now is for the virtual assistant, which I switched off straight away and won't use it, so why can't there be an option in the settings to change the long press for volume? I had to turn on the adaptive sound control and set all the options there to noise cancelling, because if I just turned it off and set the earbuds to noise cancelling it would turn off every time I put the earbuds in the case and then I had to open the app to turn the noise cancelling on when using them again. I also noticed that they sometimes don't hold the Bluetooth connection and the sound breaks. I would expect much better for this price, and I am just comparing it to the old Sony earbuds that this one is supposed to be an improvement to. Sony, please stop "improving" stuff that doesn't need to be improved and concentrate on the things that need it, like the battery life. I regret not trying earphones from other brands instead. They were very expensive, I can't return them anymore and can't afford to buy different ones. I have a Sony phone so I thought Sony earbuds would work best with it, but it looks like just a mistake. After so many years of being a Sony fan and buying all Sony devices from TVs to phones etc, I think it's time to switch to different brands, because all of this is just a huge disappointment and not worth the money.

Excellent sound quality and fit. First time using earbuds so took a while to feel comfortable with them, but once you normalise the experience, I like them much more than my old Sony headphones (XM3). One product feature needed: if both earbuds are not charging, alert the user! Otherwise you charge one and the other one is dead (if they don't click into their station properly) - happened a few times

Great sound, poor fit.
Sounds quality is excellent. Clear and precise without overburdened bass (bass accurate, not pressed). None of the four tip sizes fit my ears well and buds never feel securely placed in the ear; only occasionally falling out. The controls, especially volume, are too complex. One, two, three or four taps do different things. These cannot be turned off or changed (I'd like the app to have functions to change the tap controls). The buds and case are pleasingly lightweight.

Don't by this. These things have no bass. I have much cheaper ear buds that work much better.

Hi there, We're truly sorry to hear you're not getting the bass response you expected from your new WF-1000XM5 earbuds. We absolutely appreciate you sharing your honest feedback. We'd strongly recommend checking a couple of things in the Sony | Sound Connect app: 1) The XM5s come with multiple sizes of isolation noise-canceling eartips. If the seal isn't perfect, the bass completely leaks out. Please try experimenting with the different sizes (S, M, L) to ensure you have a snug fit that feels like it's creating a good seal in your ear canal. Once you find the best fitting tip, open the app. There's a feature called "Optimal Eartip Selection" that runs a quick test to confirm your tips are creating the best acoustic seal. 2) Try the Equalizer (EQ) settings. We have a preset called "Bass Boost" that should instantly give you that deeper, punchier low end. If that's too much, you can also use the "Custom" option to manually slide up the lower frequency bands until the bass feels just right for you. Give those app settings a try!
