A: Hi there- Shokz here!The Shokz OpenComm 2 (specifically the UC version) connects via both Bluetooth (5.1) and a dedicated 2.4GHz wireless dongle (Loop110), giving you flexibility for computers and mobile devices, often with multipoint pairing to connect to two sources at once. The standard OpenComm 2 relies mainly on Bluetooth, while the UC version adds the 2.4GHz dongle for better PC/laptop integration. OpenComm2 2025 Upgrade vs OpenComm v1
I was completely satisfied with the first OpenComm at the beginning, but over time people started saying they could barely hear me — my voice was very quiet when they were talking to me from a computer, regardless of the messenger. I use this headset exclusively connected to Android phones; the phones have changed over time, but the problem of my very quiet mic stayed the same. If the other person called from a phone, everything was (and still is) fine. We’ll see how this new version behaves over time, but for now I’m very happy with it: it’s noticeably better, and everyone who used to complain about my quiet mic has stopped doing so. There’s still a slight aftertaste from the first version, but overall I’m really pleased with the upgrade.

Works Great
Coworkers say they hear me perfectly and I can hear them perfectly, as well. It works for a long time, before needing to be recharged. My only complaint is that when I am making an outgoing call (whether to a coworker on Teams, calling a patient, or trying to clock into our time-system), I can not hear the phone ringing, only when the call is answered.

Not impressed! Most expensive (by far) headset I've ever bought and having to repair it to my phone several times a day is rather annoying. I can be in the middle of a call and and they disconnect, i have to unpair and go through the pairing process again then it might last the rest of the day or for 10 seconds, you never know. One of the reps told me they would send me out a new pair with a return label, but another told me they couldn't do that and I would need to send these back for them to verify and then they would send me another one.

As "the office lady" for our business I have been using Bluetooth headsets for a LONG time. They have left my ears hurting from being smashed or my face mushed up from trying to hear. I've had ppl say they cannot hear me. All that changed when a colleague recommended OpenComm2 2025. I can hear the callers with my phone volume set very low. And they can hear me speaking in a normal tone (ppl asked previously why I was shouting at them. . . . bc you say you can't hear me!) I can hear noises around me with no trouble. I am over the moon about these! I cannot tolerate anything in my ear - so over the ear is what I have used. These are just fantastic. No ear pain from wearing them 12-18 hrs a day. Great sound quality on both ends (hearing and speaking) - listen to audio books and podcasts as well. They are great! They charge very quickly and so far I haven't run out of battery, even on the longest days. They do take a bit of getting used to if you are sensitive to them moving when they contact your hoodie- but nothing major!
