Hot garbage. Mechanically, it works perfectly based on the defective design. Even working exactly as built it is incapable of accurately matching the distribution of products on both sides. One side is always throwing out way more than the other, and then cheap cotter pins that spin are unable to break up the most simple of clumps so invariably one side stops distributing completely. Like the title says, I said it outside of a dumpster at the recycling facility and feel sorry for the person who takes it home! I should’ve done humanity a service and smashed it with a hammer before taking it to the dump. Scott’s- please don’t insult everyone’s intelligence with your AI generated response.

As with all lawn equipment, I find them too short, but these speakers are the worst. When are you going to make equipment for people who are over 5' 10". I'm 7'. I'm hunched over and get major back pain using this. Any chance of an extension kit. I think it would be a winner.

Plastic gearbox doesn’t last. Used for one season before one side broke. Now it only disperses fertilizer from one side.

I like the Scott's fertilizer products a lot, and have been using rotary spreaders for 20 years, but this spreader fell short. I wash my spreader after each application to stay rust free. But after one season, the edge guard mechanism (just a wire with a hook pulling on a cheap plastic gear) started jamming, wouldn't completely disengage, resulting in super uneven application. I was finally getting my poorly sodded lawn back in shape, but the spreader made a total mess of my yard this year. Now I have stripes and splotches throughout the yard. I would not pay for the "edge guard" upgrade. Buy something cheaper that just works.

I have used this spreader about 4 times now and have to say it is not the Worlds best spreader". On 2/4 uses, the edgeguard cable came loose so that did not work. I also had problems one side of the hopper chute not opening. It is very frustrating to get a consistent distribution of product with this spreader. So, this isn't a completely negative review, I do like the bigger tires.

Appears to work fine until you put product in it and then apparently the shoots do not open therefore no product comes out. Absolutely worthless only used a handful of times but over a year old Scottis apparently will not do anything. Crazy a company like Scott’s makes such a crappy product and won’t even stand behind it.. especially since it’s so expensive and they’re supposed top line. Smh . Do not purchase you will regret it

Worst spreader ever. Very simply, the first time I used it the pin which spins and moves the product in the hopper, came off and got lost. And there doesn't seem to be anyone with an answer or solution to getting another similar pin. I tried a cotter pin and a hitch pin, but both comprised the distribution of product. Help, please!

Junk spreader, used very little and now it doesn’t open when fertilizer is in the hopper. Empty the drop doors open but as soon as you add Scott’s fertilizer they stick closed 😡

I bought my Scott’s Elite Spreader in the spring of 2024.Spreader settings are not accurate using Scotts products specifications. Spreader does not disperse evenly leaving deep green strips next to pale green strips. I need to come back a week or so later and fertilize the pale strips. My lawn is always unevenly green.

The first one didn’t work properly right out of the box. It has 2 chutes that dispenses product and one of the chutes wouldn’t open properly so product only came out of one side. Scott’s sent me a replacement and it worked ok for 8 uses before one of chutes wasn’t opening as far as it should allowing more product to come out of one side giving an uneven distribution. Not good when fertilizing. The springs are too weak. The next time I used it, I extended the edge guard and when trying to retract it, the lever was hard to move and started clicking when moving it. The lever closed but the edge guard did not retract and is now frozen in the open position. The clicking was plastic gears stripping. I contacted Scott’s who said, sorry, we only replace it once and then if there’s an issue with the replacement, you’re on your own. Aside from it not being reliable, the dual dispensers are a gimmick and don’t work well. One side is always dispensing more product than the other side. And lastly, good luck finding the proper settings for spreading your products. Nobody has settings listed for this spreader and it dispenses at a different rate than all other Scott’s spreaders so you can’t use those settings. It’s all trial and error.
