Holding the two units side by side I can see why. The weight and quality build if the Schlage is miles ahead. The installation instructions are clear and easy to follow. I installed the new unit myself, without any issues, and I'm an average do it yourselfer. Really happy with the great look, solid feel when locking and unlocking, and life time warranty. I'd absolutely strongly recommend this deadbolt.

Generally lock companies get spun out and flipped for parts by private equity firms and the manufacturering is offshored. Luckily that doesn’t appear to be the case with Schlage and this model lock is still solid metal construction.
