Q: Defective? My spindles just keep spinning and won't catch. Is this normal? I read that one person had to get washers. Is that what I need ?

A: To begin installation, gently insert the four metal threaded rods into the designated holes on your gate. These rods are designed to slide in easily—they do not screw or thread into the gate itself. Next, locate the adjustment wheels on each rod. Turn these wheels counterclockwise, which will move them closer to the gate and away from the rubber end. As you turn, the wheels will begin to thread onto the silver spindle rod, gradually creating the pressure needed to close the gap between the latch and the gate frame. Continue adjusting until the latch nearly meets the opposite side. If the latch becomes difficult to operate, it may indicate over-tightening. In that case, simply loosen the grey wheels slightly to restore proper function. ⚖️ For best results, be sure to adjust all four wheels evenly. This ensures that pressure is distributed consistently across the gate, helping to secure it safely and effectively.

Nope! Going to return this ASAP. Pain in the butt to install, finally got it to fit. 8 month old came by and with some pressure was able to push the door open. Head collided with bars and had a screaming infant. Opening mechanism doesn't seem to be working well. Manufacturing defect? Also shared similar experience with other customers that it seems to be either way to wide or too narrow. Also, flimsy workmanship.

DO NOT RECOMMEND
Just bought this item and installed it the same day. We had measured correctly and it indeed does not have the right measurement as labeled. This gate does not fit it is either too big or too small and yet when we did end up fitting it the door did not align correctly as the top would latch but the bottom of the door would stick out ready to harm my baby. I would not recommend this item as it is wayyy too flimsy and seems to be dangerous. This is my first baby and I did not expect to be going through this.

This gate is advertised as fitting any doorway from 29 to 58 inches, but it clearly needs a caveat saying “except for the doorway size you actually have.” No matter how I combine the expanders, it won’t fit any doorway in my house. At 41 inches, the large piece is too big, the medium is too small, and the medium plus small is too big. I tried a 52-inch doorway and ran into the same problem. Large + medium + small are too big, but large + medium are still too small. On top of the sizing issues, the gate is incredibly unstable. Even when tightened as much as possible, it still wobbles, and if you tighten it further, the latch won’t close. Total waste of money.

Will probably end up returning
As soon as I installed this I didn’t like it. I went to the reviews and will say IT IS PRESSURE MOUNTED (No drilling necessary) and the door doesn’t initially look like it will fit because it needs to be set up and the ends need to be tightened causing the pressure i.e. the door closing. The thing I don’t like is this door does easily close shut and doesn’t align with the bottom well. We have another baby gate that you squeeze the handles and lift up and I prefer that one more but it isn’t wide enough for our doorway. I’m going to try it out for a few days but I assume we will be returning it due to the door alignment and difficulty in a high traffic area.

Easy for babies to open
Looks nice and is easy to install, but unfortunately is also very easy for babies to open without squeezing the latches. My 11-month-old pulled up to standing on it and very easily tugged it open. Not a worthwhile investment if you intend to use with a standing/walking baby!

Manufactured Wrong
My husband and I have bought two of these now in store and they both have been manufactured incorrectly and broken in some way. The door wouldn’t even reach the latch on the gate. We had to return both and purchase something from somewhere else. Very frustrating.

Easy to set up, but if your child watches you open this gate, they can quickly learn themselves. My 2 1/2 year old learned to open this gate due to its simple two button mechanism. Ther eis no lifting of the gate needed to open like many other.

Gate requires holes into the wall and washers
We were under the impression that the gate was pressure mounted as stated on the box. However, the cups which the gate was set into needed to be drilled into the wall. When we mounted the first one into the wall, the hole in the cup was too big and fell right off. The cups required washers, which were not provided.

Broke
This was the only gate I could find wide enough for my kitchen. It was great until the welding snapped at the top. I've only had it for 6 months. I have a different gate at the top of my stair that I've had well over 6 months and it has held up just fine. To pay $50 for a gate and only get 6 months out of it is ridiculous. I'll definitely be returning it.

Mislabeled baby gate
The sizing is misleading. There should be information about the size of each extender piece. While my opening was within the widths indicated, the gate did not fit properly and securely in the opening. The smallest extender was approximately 1/2 inch too wide, but without this piece the screws were fully extended compromising the security.

Bought one and it lasted about 8 months, the latch broke. Bought the second one and no matter what we do we cannot get it to stay up. It’s a piece of junk.

This thing is junk
This gate is flimsy garbage. My two year old can grab ahold of it and shake it to where it slides on the wall and the door pops open. It might work better in a doorway but it’s so flimsy when using the extending pieces.

DO NOT BUY
My baby fell down the stairs. This is flimsy garbage and does not work. I can't even return it because once it's assembled, you can't take it fully apart and it doesn't fit back in the box. I would give negative stars if I could. (My baby is very bruised but not severely injured, thank God)
