Q: Is this gluten free?
submitted by susanmc - 1 year ago
A: It says it contains 100% whole grains, which leads me to believe it's not. You can get the gluten-free version on Amazon.
submitted bySue - 1 year agoA: Oats are gluten free. Wheat products have gluten. Oats are not wheat, but 100% whole grain.
submitted bystarcady - 8 months agoA: No they are not gluten free. Gluten free oats are oats grown not near wheat. Oats don’t have the gluten protein but grown near wheat they get contaminated with wheat making them not safe for those with gluten issues.

Change with Instant Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal
I'm 73 years old and I've been eating Quaker Oats since I was a kid, but this Maple & Brown Sugar is the worst I've ever had. First of all, the box is the same size as before, but there was only 6 bags in it. That's my fault for thinking there would be automatically 12 bags. The bags are larger, but if you don't use a larger bowl, you'll have a big mess. I put a plate over mine and put it in the microwave; works every time until now. The taste is horrible! You get more powered stuff than oats and whatever the powdered stuff is, it's not maple and brown sugar. One of your comments said it tasted like dirt; I agree! I threw half of mine out! You'll be losing millions of customers if you don't straighten this out soon because there are other alternatives.

BRING BACK THE OLD AND GREAT!!! FORMULATION!!!
This new formula is tasteless compared to the old one. 😞 I usually don’t like to give bad reviews, and customarily only take the time to praise. But this relatively new formulation of your single-serve oatmeal is just really so very awful that I think it’s important that you are informed. 😞 In addition to taste, the vitamin fortification took an hit, too, apparently, in the newer formulation. How do I know? I have very sensitive gums. And I noticed that whenever I consumed the old version, the Quaker brand single-serve variety packs, the apples and cinnamon, or maple 🍁 and brown sugar, or cinnamon and spice flavors, my oral gum tissue improved! So the fortified by B-vitamins old version was doing something healthy and good!! 👍 I do understand your logic: simpler natural ingredients is the consumer trend. But sometimes, and this is one of those times, I believe, it’s best not to mess with a good thing. And you had a really good thing going with your old formula. And I can see by the other comments of former!! habitual consumers, I’m by far not the only one complaining. PLEASE!! 🙏 Consider bringing back the old, and obviously beloved, formula. I bought it ALL the time and considered it a healthy addition to my diet. Now, I don’t buy it AT ALL! (And I wonder about the other disappointed consumers. Have they also abandoned you?) Especially give the B-vitamins fortifications a reconsideration. I bet there were many, many young kids who greatly benefited from them - as well as learned that something as healthy as oatmeal could compete - and win! - for their breakfast attention and consumption. Thank you.

Floury, mouth drying
I ate Quaker maple brown sugar instant oatmeal every single morning with berries for as far back as I can remember. Until you changed the recipe that is. Floury mouth drying taste, no matter how much water or milk I make it with. Then a friend suggested another store's brand maple brown sugar instant oatmeal and viola! It tastes exactly like yours used to, and it's less expensive!

New Recipe Is Awful!!!
This used to be delicious, and the recipe change that they made a few years ago is terrible. It used to be flavorful and had good maple and brown sugar taste. Now it’s bland and has worse flavor than just plain oatmeal. Also the texture is way worse. Instead of smooth and creamy it’s tough and chewy. Disgusting. Go ahead and leave the same stock copy/paste reply you leave everyone else about “changing consumer tastes” - I think the deluge of 1 star reviews here speaks for itself. This was a mistake and clearly driven by profits alone. Quarterly line must go up, forever!

It's awful now
I'm so sad you changed your recipe. I couldn't even finish one packet and then tossed the whole box. It tastes awful. Please bring back the original as an option.

What happened?
I like Robert Kennedy Junior, but he ruined your quaker oatmeal. I pitched it out. Doesn’t taste the same. It’s awful. I won’t buy it again. Sorry.

Ack! What was that
Yesterday, I would've given this a 5 star review as I usually have 3 packs with my tea every morning. Then I replenished my supply with an 18 pack from the market. When I made it this morning it was TERRIBLY salty. I thought maybe something was wrong with one of the packs or the water so I grabbed another pack and made a small sample to try. I can only compare my beloved maple and brown sugar oats to what I imagine is what a rusty anchor from the bottom of the sea tastes like. So salty and off putting, I am in shock. 42 years of this beloved instant sweetness that got me through my cold morning bus stops, rushed work mornings, homesick deployments, and now lazy retirement has betrayed me. I'm almost scared to buy another box, will it happen again. Fool me once, shame one you. I don't want to be the fool again.

Not brown sugar
Have loved this for the longest time but you had to change it up. Don’t call it brown sugar, when it has no sweetness to it. Wish I had not bought the bigger box.

Shrinkflation
Your shrinkflation is out of control. You are putting so little oatmeal in the packets that the cooking directions are no longer accurate. The 2/3 of a cup fill line on the packets isn't even accurate anymore. I just used a measuring cup to validate this. It actually only holds 1/2 of liquid up to the line. And when you add only 1/2 cup, the oatmeal still doesn't thicken up after more than 2 minutes of microwaving, indicating there is very little actual oatmeal in the packets.

I think I'm the only one who can taste the differe
What can I say, So they improved the recipe to make it healthier and well it taste worst, but isn't that the trade off, health food usually is bland and weird texture, that's why I choose junk food, but you can't have it both ways so I will adjust to the new taste and texture it's not horrible just different I am glad it's healthier. Nice to see a company try to improve.

Yuck
This had been my breakfast meal for years but no more. After increasing the microwave cook time it still seems undercooked and is like eating flavorless, indigestible wet cardboard. The sweetner is awful and sticks to the inside of the packet requiring manual removal. I guess I'll add Quaker Oats to the growing list of companies trying to fix things that weren't broken.

TERRIBLE
TERRIBLE! Too sweet. What are the ingredients/chemical composition of ADDED SUGARS? Is Sugar Alcohol an ingredient of regular maple brown sugar? DISAPOINTED. The new formula does NOT even deserved 1 star - I would have rated it ZERO. I was a loyal customer of the product 50 years & I will never purchase it again.
