Biggest Regret

First time parents, don’t buy this. It will make you more anxious when your mental health is already not well postpartum. And caused unnecessary ER visits and bills. Just don’t buy this.

Eases my anxiety

Easy to set up, long lasting battery, not hard to use. As a first time mom I worry about my baby at night but the owlet allows me to sleep peacefully

works great as long as the base and baby are in the same room. do wish they would improve the distance it works at from sock to base. the app tells you based on readings if baby is awake/ light sleep / deep sleep. not perfectly accurate on that part, but that’s not my main purpose in having the sock so that’s not insanely important to me. it has given me so much peace of mind. as long as you’re making sure the sock is flush to the foot there’s no false alarms from my experience. easy to set up. not had any issues with burns from sensor, i switch the sock from left foot to right foot each night and only use when i’m asleep to prevent that from happening. seriously don’t know what id do without it, would buy again in a heartbeat. don’t let negative reviews deter you from purchasing, read up on owlet warranties and buy the extended insurance if you’re worried!!

Overpriced

I've had so many issues with this thing for a $300 product, I expect it to not have issues reading when I cover my child's foot with my torso... also the fact that it doesn't pick up whatsoever while they are wiggling? my baby moves about 79% of the time so this feels slightly useless. also, you can't get a reading on the app when you're traveling unless you use a hotspot and plug it into a portable charger... seriously. not worth $300. just go-to marketplace and find one someone's selling for under $200-$100. they are actually all over the place.

Impossible to connect to and an infuriating buggy app

My husband and I have been trying to set the owlet up for nearly 2 hours on both our phones and neither of us have been able to find the base station. We’ve tried both Bluetooth and WiFi, making sure to be on our 2.5 GHz WiFi, and nothing worked. We tried using the chat function but the bot concluded was that it couldn’t help us and told us we’d receive an email in 2-5 business days. We bought the dream sock as our daughter is sick, so waiting this long makes the sock redundant to us. The app is buggy, multiple buttons don’t work meaning you need to exit the app and restart the process a million times in hopes the next button will work for you. Considering the price tag of this product, I’d expect better.

Buy direct not from target

Do not buy this from target. I purchased it here and then it broke 10 months later (within the manufacturer warranty) however owlet will not warranty it since they say I was activated in their system 10 months before. So target will sell you a used product as “new” and then if something happens to it target or owlet will not help you. You are better off buying it directly through owlet so you don’t have this issue. Don’t trust target

Great when it actually works

This sock is so frustrating at times. It’s great when it actually works but here lately it’s constantly beeping, saying either sock placement issue or sock connection lost. I’ve had to reconnect it to WiFi a couple of times now. My son was in the NICU so I like to have peace of mind at night and when it works I do but in all honesty nine times out of ten it’s just a headache. I’ve been using it since September and for the price I expected better.

Expensive but doesn't work long term

Love the owlet, but this isn’t a product made to last. This is the 3rd one I’ve purchased. The first one in 2019 with my first baby. Used it for 18mo?, put it in storage, it didn’t work when we set up with baby #2 (2021) so we bought a new one. Used that for about 18mo again, put it in storage, THAT one didn’t work when we set it up with baby #3 (2024). Bought this one now that I’m reviewing, it’s doing the same thing as the other two- ‘sock placement issue’ alarm keeps going off. It won’t connect the base and sock. We have been continuously using it since Sept 2024 and suddenly started having this issue. Owlet only offers a 1yr warranty so nothing can be done. Just blows my mind how expensive this is and it isnt a high quality product.

Grwat when it actually works.

This is a great product, when it actually works. It seemed to work ok the first few times but maybe a week in every single time I would put it on my newborn it would start beeping that the placement was wrong, even though my newborn wasn’t moving at all. Not to mention how frustrating it is when it takes you a while to put your baby to sleep and then it starts beeping for no reason. I gave it several chances until I was fed up and returned it. Also, you pay $300 and it didn’t even include the subscription which is an additional $10 a month if you want to see all the data.

Reviewer

Unfortunately I can’t give this a good review. I’ve tried using it for 5 consecutive nights, and have only been able to get it to work once. It continues to say it’s lost connection despite being right next to the plug and being charged. It also beeps incessantly when it doesn’t work and does not have any trouble shooting feedback so it just keeps beeping unless I shut down the entire device. I’ve also called the help line. Given the price point of this device, I’m disappointed. I’ll keep trying another night or 2 and then return it if it still won’t work. I gave 3 stars because I imagine it’s a good product if it actually works.

Target is selling Items used. Got this sock late at night ready to use it for my baby. When I opened the package I realized that the sensor part was extremely dirty and smelled like medicine.

The app is pretty garbage and the Bluetooth range is quite short. However, the peace of mind knowing my child is OK in the middle of the night is worth every penny, even with the issues. It’s also nice for sleep tracking.

Do not purchase! Absolutely terrible. Does not work.

Purchased after my infant spent a few nights in the hospital with low oxygen saturation. Unfortunately the experience was truly horrendous. One of the worst baby products on the market. Doesn’t work well. App is terrible and tries to get you to pay for a subscription for more information that isn’t even accurate. I spent more time awake because of the faulty alarm going off than I did for dealing with my baby being awake. This was truly one of the most frustrating products I have ever purchased. For $300 you would think the product would at least work for more than a couple hours at a time?

Burned Newborn Foot

Was excited to try this Owlet for my newborn granddaughter, but after just 2 nights we noticed a red mark on her foot. After looking online at other reviews it appears this owlet sock is defective and has caused burns to many babies. What a shame this has occurred to any newborn. I will be returning and filing complaint with FDA and Owlet company

So glad to have this.

I am so glad we have this, I’ve never once regretted this purchase. The peace of mind it’s allowed me to have is worth it. I’m an anxious person, even more so when we brought my full term NICU baby home after spending a week on oxygen because of respiratory failure. I was a mess worrying about her and made this an impulse purchase the day before she came home. But having it never caused more anxiety for me. I know it will have a different effect on everyone, so that will be something to consider, but for me personally, it eased my mind to track her oxygen and make sure she was okay adjusting to life at home. And still 8 months later, I’m still using it every night. I’ve never had any false alerts or connection issues the entire time I’ve been using it.

A must have.

I purchased two of these when my twins were discharged from the NICU. Postpartum can be a tough time for mom and babies, especially while getting to know each other while hormones are doing their thing. I can honestly say that Owlet Dream Sock saved my sanity! I was able to get the sleep that I needed, because without these, I would stay awake just make sure that baby is breathing. I was also able to learn their sleeping habits, and tweak our routines to encourage the twins to sync their sleep schedules. In the past I would have had to log manually and guess, and I was never able to stick with it (with my older children). That method would have been extremely difficult with two babies. I was able to pick up both socks in store, which was really nice. I was afraid of ordering from various online companies because I didn’t want to risk getting a defective product. The packaging was really nice, the socks are definitely protected from any potential mishandling during shipping. Each box includes a sensor, a charging station, two left socks and two right socks. The socks hold the sensor in place on their foot. You get one small and one medium for each foot. Babies grow quickly, so it was nice to be able to have the next size up on hand. It was also nice to have both sides available in the box. Different clothing companies place their zippers on different sides, so I just chose the one that worked best at the time. It was convenient to have the backup for emergency messes- babies have a lot of output! I like that we have the option to order additional sizes and colors as well. Ours have held up, because I followed manufacturer instructions for cleaning. You do need to clean them occasionally as feet get sweaty. Setup was straightforward, and requires home WiFi, and then you download their app. First you connect your phone to the products WiFi, and then follow the instructions for connecting the product to your WiFi. Edit their profiles in the app, and take time to click around. The features are fantastic! I’ve shared the values with their pediatrician when they were sick. It was definitely helpful to monitor their pulse rates and oxygen levels at home. It helped me make decisions very quickly. I definitely count this purchase as one of our greatest blessings. I would buy it again in a heartbeat!
